Subject: NHC Early Bird deadline is today
05/14/2003 10:29
AM
Hey, all you procrastinators, today, Wednesday, May 14, is the deadline to
register at the money-saving advance prices for the National Homebrew
Conference in Chicago.
The conference committee has lined up a great schedule of events and
speakers. The Crazy Train Pub Crawl is the prelude to the event at 5:00 PM
on Wednesday, June 18. Things officially kick-off at lunch on Thursday with
Michael Jackson, himself, giving the keynote address. Club Night on
Thursday will feature more than 2 dozen homebrew clubs displaying their art
and the best homebrewers in the world will be crowned during the Grand
Banquet on Friday night. Did we mention speakers? Our list is the best
you'll find anywhere, with people like Peter Bouckeart, former head brewer
at Rodenbach, currently of New Belgium Brewing. The conference wraps up on
Saturday night with "Real Beer Real Food," a tasting of real ales and
lagers and artisanal food.
You know you want to attend, so save money by registering now instead of
grumbling later.
For full registration information visit:
http://www.beertown.org/events/hbc/index.html
For full conference details visit:
http://www.chibeer.org/aha03
Rooms at the Holiday Inn-O'Hare at the conference rate of $99/night are
filling fast so you'd also better reserve a room at the hotel. Call
847-671-6350 and mention the American Homebrewers Association National
Conference. This rate is not available at their website.
Just received word from Dave Berg confirming our out of town visit and
camping extravaganza. Dave will be at the brewery both Friday and
Saturday and provided some information about his current brews. Here is
our conversation.
We will try to meet at the Mankato campground and get setup. Would it
be appropriate to visit on Friday afternoon or sometime on Saturday?
DB Either works for me.
I know your schedule is tight. Amazing how that happens each April.
DB Yeah, and especially when you just opened a new brewery
Hope you're keeping out of trouble. What's on tap?
DB Gold, Red, Brown, Pale, and the first brewer's special: Kolsch
So there you have it folks. Hope you can make it next month as we
journey down to Mankato and St Peter.

Don and others, Please send news articles to three (sorry) addresses
which are included in the CC box.
I am trying to route MHBA club e-mail to my home address so I deleted
the "from" on this message.
Take care and thanks a bunch for writing.
Looks like we will have a "Special May Edition" going to print rapidly.
Sincerely
Rick Oftel

Say, to whom do I send a potential article for the Boiler newsletter?
thanks
Don

Welcome to summer!!!!
The weather gets warmer, the trees are flowering, grass is turning green, the Wild are still playing hockey????? you gotta love Minnesota.
This Thursday (5/13) we will be releasing the latest seasonal, Organicale.
By the number of salads we are selling it appears you guys are all about health these days, so we are just trying to help out. Organicale was made with certified organic malted barley and hops. It has a brilliant amber color and smells very floral(from the hops). Your going to love it.
Along with our "healthy beer" we will feature some special food options as well. I am hearing rumors (from the kitchen) of a crazy Giant Mushroom Sandwich, Pete's "Up North" Burger, and even a Wild Rice Sandwich. Stop by and have a taste...Organicale just $1 per pint from 5-6
Cheers
Mike
