I own one growler(which I keep at my sister's place in Irvine)for Stone Brewing. It was about $12 for growler and beer; $8 to refill, or some such. They have the info on their website for growler fills on Saturdays.
Cal VH
2 pints to a quart, 2 quarts to a half gallon, so.... about the cost of 4
pints, plus the cost of the container ($2-3?)

Does anyone have a ballpark idea on what a growler full o' brewpub brew
would cost? Gotta budget for the crawl, methinks.

Just a thought: Aug. 1 (or Sat. Aug 2) drive around to various brewpubs and pick up growlers. I hate to think what driving condition we'd be in by the last brewpub, but if we limit ourselves to just a sample at each stop, we should be ok. Maybe designated drivers could be compensated by growler donations from their passengers.

Generally once you buy the growler from the pub, you can bring it back and
they will refill it for you for a modest price.

You buy one from the pub. No kegs, only half-gallon containers.

How's this going to work? Do you supply the container, or do you buy
one for
the pub? Will they fill a keg?

As you've probably aware, Gov Pawlenty signed the Liquor Omnibus bill
yesterday, allowing Minnesota Brewpubs to sell growlers of beer for
off-sale consumption. The new law will take effect Aug 1, 2003.
Thanks to everyone who wrote the Governor, their Senators, and their
Representatives. Every little bit helps.
Have a great Memorial Day weekend!
