Judges and stewards are needed and I hope you will be able to make it to a great event. Judging Dates: Wed, October 23rd: 5:45 and 8:00pm at the El Zagal Shrine Friday, Oct 25th: 12:00, 2:15, 5:30 and 8pm - Howard Johnsons Saturday, October 26th: 9:00 and 12:30 - Howard Johnsons Food will be served to all volunteers. It's a long story, but I bought it as part of a software demo for marketing purposes. The basic idea is to showcase my software platform as the pipeline for recipes and scheduling brewing, automatically ordering ingredients, printing brew sheets, etc. around the machine. It will serve as an example of how my software platform can be used to manage the work in a manufacturing facility. That it also let me get one of these machines while writing it off on taxes is just a nice benefit. :) As for the machine itself, they actually don't boil. Instead, they do a 208F recirculation for hop extraction. The water comes from an attached keg and the final wort goes back into the keg for fermentation. It does 2.5 gallon batches and runs on a 15A 110V outlet. Once mine shows up, I'd be happy to demo it for anyone who wants to see it. September meeting

We will select three home brews, sample them and informally offer CONSTRUCTIVE criticism with the goal of helping the brewer recognize and learn how to correct any perceived faults. We will also choose between doing a second round of samples to discuss or have a discussion on brewing technique. Only one speaker at a time please. The agenda is as follows: 6:00 - Meeting begins with official business: MHBA pledge Toast to Jimmy Carter Treasurer's Report Announcements of upcoming events Welcoming of new members 6:15 - 7:00 - Selection of three home brews to be discussed 7:00 - 8:00 - Option 1: Select an additional three brews to be discussed Option 2: Submit a brewing technique topic for discussion, such as: "What is "Efficiency"? Explain it and how to correctly calculate it" "What is "Attenuation"? Explain it and when/how to adjust it" "I live in an apartment and have a bad back.
