Ladies and Gentlemen, The next MHBA meeting is set in stone and we have
an agenda; it's gadget day. April 19th, between 1-4, our club meeting
will occur at Great Waters. Mike Swalinkavich will be the gadget
coordinator but the real purpose of the meeting is to share information.
It is sort of like "show and tell" for the homebrewer. You bring your
gadget, you talk about your gadget, we ask questions and you get a beer!
What could be more enjoyable you ask?
Hi,
We are having a West Side Meeting @ WindRiver Brewing
on Thursday 4/24 beginning @ 7 pm. You can find a map
at www.windriverbrew.com/image/map.gif.
Another note: We now have PBW in stock. Just ask for
it.
I recently used it to clean up my brewing system which
had some stubboron deposits that never easily came off
until I let it soak in PBW for about 30 minutes. Came
off with no work and my brewery now looks brand new
(on the inside at least).
Cheers
WH

How about the May meeting. We are scheduled to go to Rahr on May 10 in
the early afternoon for a tour and will continue the meeting at one of
two convenient local locations: a brew pub in New Shakopee or a local
Major homebrewer living in rural Shakopee.
What about June? I'm glad you asked. Not exactly sure of the date yet
but planning on a spring "pre-camp" out. Our new VP David Cox found a
great campground in Mankato that is typically underused, allows beer,
and it can be our base of action for visits to Schells, Dave Berg's, and
I understand a winery is also in the area. We have a great backroad
route between the two or three locations and more details will be
released.
July meeting? Well, we just don't know yet. What do you think? Send
us some ideas.
How about the Boiler? Another good question. Remember the request for
articles, information and that stuff we put together to develop a paper?
I wrote my share and we anxiously await your contributions. Send us
some articles and we will send you a paper. Almost as easy as bringing
a gadget and you get a beer!
So there you have it. Send us some stuff and ideas. Tell your
friends. Show up (after taxes) at Gadget day. See you real soon!

Happy Spring Everyone!!??,
I can tell spring is in the air, it continues to get warmer outside and you guys are thirsty!! The Potato Stout is nearly gone (Good work!!) so we need to release another. "Steam Jacket" will be released this Thursday 4/10. Stop by the Minneapolis Town Hall Brewery (1430 Washington ave s.) and try a pint for just $1 from 5-6pm.
Steam Jacket is the second beer designed by our Ass. Brewer Josh. He worked long and hard to create this California Common style beer, a style of beer pioneered by Anchor Brewing from SF California. I think he did a great job with this beer, if you agree let him know.
Hope to see you,
Mike
We will be conducting a Beer Judge Certification Program exam next
Saturday, April 12 at 9am at the University of Minnesota. The test will
take three hours - we plan to be done by noon. The fee for first-time
takers is $50, if you are re-taking the test to improve your score, the fee
is $30. If you are planning on taking the exam, please email me.
Thanks!

Mike et al,
I have corrected the time on the club calendar. The correct time for the
Mash-Out awards ceremony is Sat, May 3, 8pm. (After the Blessing of the
Bock at Town Hall Brewery!)
See you all there!

Mike,
The Mash-out page is correct. The calendar for events for the competition
are as follows:
April 11-20, 2003: Entries Accepted (All BJCP categories, including Cider
and Mead)
May 1-3, 2003: Judging
May 3, 2003: Awards Ceremony at Summit Brewing (8 pm)
And to make an extra incentive. We have confirmations from five of the
local brewpubs in the Cities, that they will take a first place winner as
an Assistant Brewer for a day. Think about it, instead of sitting in a
cube, behind a desk typing on a boring computer, you cold be brewing 15
barrels of beer.
And that's just ONE reason to enter the competition.
