Well, I believe the brewpub section was removed from the bill. HF719 is
also the Liquor Omnibus bill. If the house passed their version of the
bill yesterday, and the senate passes their version of the bill (which
includes the brewpub section) we're going to wind up in conference
committee. Assuming we hammer out the differences and everything passes,
it goes to the Governor to sign. I believe liquor laws usually take
effect on Aug 1, but I may be mistaken.

HEY DAVE BERG - what is next? If both house and senate have passed their
bills, does it cycle around again as a blend of the two bills, or does it go
to the governor to sign?

Rick: Stirring devices are ceramic coated (sterilisable) iron or magnetic shapes that you drop into the flask. The variable speed rotating magnet in the hot plate spins the shape. I get pretty good stirring in my flask by adding a few hop pellets to create attachment sites for the steam bubbles.
Greg
Greetings beer fans and members. Rick here with a question about
magnetic stirrers. I picked up (hasn't arrived yet) what appears to be
a decent used unit on an E-bay auction and need some advise about
operation and appropriate stirring devices. The device is a 9 inch Cole
Palmer with a heating style top. I have a 2 liter Erlenmeyer flask and
hope to supercharge my next yeast colony. What type of stirring device
do I need? Where do I get one? Should I have some spares? How long or
fast do I stir the mixture? Is the top heating surface appropriate for
boiling a flask of wort?
Thanks
Rick Oftel
I'm not having much luck with those links or clicking on "check on the status of the bill" from
http://www.senate.leg.state.mn.us/departments/scr/billsumm/SF143.HTM
Can someone just cut and paste (or compose) a synopsis of the status of the bill?
thanks,
Don

Everyone is invited to stop my 40th B-Day Party, on Saturday, May 3,
2:00pm to 11:59pmish (open house).
Yes, I know, it's the same day 2003 Upper Mississippi Mash-Out, but I
wasn't able to reschedule it. I do have the party room for the whole day
and night, so there might be time for people to squeeze my party in.
We'll have 40 gallons of my homebrew on tap (7 different styles: Porter,
Wheat, Cream Ale, American Pale Ale, Brown Ale, Belgian Ale and Raspberry
Ale). If you want to bring homebrew, either keg or bottles, that would be
cool : ) I have our clubs draft/jockey box and I'm currently building my
own, so there should be a couple open taps for "guest" homebrews...
There's a pool table, indoor pool, and locker room if anyone wants to
swim.
Extra chairs, appetizers and Gag gifts welcome, but not required.
Directions: To Woodbury from St.Paul take Hwy.94 East to Radio Drive.
Turn south (right) onto Radio and go one block to Old Hudson Rd. Take a
right onto Old Hudson Rd. You'll pass by Tamerack Village, an animal
hospital, a boat shop, and Heppner's car wash. Just past Heppners car
wash there is a road to the left (Landau). Take a left onto Landau. Go up
the hill. You'll pass one set of town houses on the left. The club house
is at the top of the hill on the left.
Any questions, let me know,
Cheers!,

Just a quick note that I have moved my mailbox from work to home and
deleted "barn" message distribution to my work e-address. Please
address future beverage related e-mails to my home address at
mnbrewing(a)earthlink.net High priority messages can still be sent to
my work address but the volume of mail has increased beyond my (and our
I.S. department's) comfort zone.
Thanks for your cooperation
