Huzzah! The deadline for the 8th Annual Byggvir's Big Beer Cup at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival is quickly approaching! We are accepting entries through Sunday, September 7th! Entries showcasing historic, English, and European styles. You can drop your entries off at five Minnesota brew shops: Northern Brewer (Minneapolis & St. Paul), Midwest Supplies (St. Louis Park), Still H20 (Stillwater), and Brew & Grow (Blaine). $6/entry. Please check with the shops for their closing times. Judges and stewards of all skill levels are encouraged to sign up to help out. Judging will be on-site at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival on Saturday, September 20 & Sunday, September 21, 2014. Last year, we had over 250 entries, with pairs of hand-made drinking vessels, gift certificates, and other fantastic prizes from our sponsors given out. We at Byggvir's Big Beer Cup are very excited to announce that Mike Hoops from Minneapolis Town Hall has been generous enough to once again offer to brew the best beer of Byggvir's at Town Hall Brewery! Tim Roets from Sponsel's Minnesota Harvest Orchard Winery has agreed to brew one of the best meads/ciders! Check out our website for more information: http://www.rennfestbeercup.com/. Hey all,
Just an update on upcoming events for those not watching the Facebook group:

1) Next meeting is at my place Sept 12 (1966 Fountain Lane in Waconia) at
the usual start time of 6:30. Special tasting of the 2014 JAB experimental
cereal beers! Mash paddle will go to whichever person nailed their cereal
beer the best, but feel free to bring other homebrews to share as well. For
those bringing a cereal beer--please try to bring an extra bottle or
container for me (and maybe 1-2 others) to try later for a write-up. I'd
like to see if BYO or Zymurgy would be interested in a write-up on this
experiment.
2) Don't forget the JAB family cookout! This is the same weekend (Sunday
Sept 14) from 1-5. Bring the kids! Bring the spouse! We will be providing
some grillable meat products (probably brats and burgers) but if your kids
have any weird dietary issues you may want to bring something else. Try to
bring a side to share so we have more options! We will have the jockey box
set up so bring a keg to share or some bottles. This has been a great event
in the past, but we need enough people to show up to make this worth it!
The event takes place at the Rosemount Pavilion in Eden Prairie (right
across from Gander Mountain).
3) Byggvir's Big Beer Cup! The Renfest beer cup is upon us. Registration
is open now until the 7th of September so get some beers in it! Also I
highly recommend trying your hand at judging or stewarding for this
competition--it is one of the most laid back and fun competitions to do
this. Entrance to the fest if free if you volunteer. I'll be volunteering
both days Sept 20-21.
See you all soon!
