I think you should make your family come up to Chicago to see YOU! You're
going to be in no shape to drive after a BEER conference!
As an alternative, we already have New Glarus and Mineral Point on the
agenda - how's your family feel about an extra 20 or so homebrewers as
guests??? LOL!
Now the tally stands at:
Al Boyce and Beth Williams
Steve Piatz and Janis Sines
Chris Hadden (and?)
Jonathan Crist (and?)
Rick Oftel
Steve and Joni Fletty
Ron Wolfgram (and?)
Jim LaRoque (and?)
Jim Ellingson <-- BUS LICENSE!

I pulled details from the website for our newsletter due out shortly. I
will be attending although driving down with my wife Sue. We would surely
follow the bus in case of any beer spills. We have family an hour or two
south and plan on visiting after the conference. The conference hotel
would
be most convenient but I'm wondering if there is anything else within
walking distance, and less expensive. ( not likely close to the airport!)
I have appointed Steve P coordinator but everyone going needs to help out
to
make our club presence as easy as possible. The bus idea is good. I
suspect it would be going down for the entire conference? We should set up
a planning meeting sometime before Christmas.

Hi all,
Anyone get US News and World Report? Apparently there is a nice story
about mead in the current issue---but apparently it is the "home delivery"
edition because it does not show up in the newsstand version . . . .
Anyone get USN&WR at home?

One really neat building (on route) is the old mineral point brewery which
is located just up the street from Brewery Creek. Not that the B&B isn't
interesting - it is a great brewery but that old building is soon to be the
oldest standing building in Wisconsin that housed a brewery. Current
residents kiln pottery but were kind enough to take me on a interesting
tour of their facility. It includes deep limestone caverns, 3 natural
springs, and enough rooms to make your head spin.
Another interesting thing about Mineral point is their water. It isn't
chlorinated. Seems if there is no contamination, they don't need to add
chlorine. Try a glass. I sure would like a direct line to their well!
So let me know a little more about the bus trip. Unfortunately Dawn would
not attend - remember she doesn't like beer.
