Greetings Beer Folks, Rick here. This is sort of a test message from a new address but as long as I am writing, here is a story!
First, thanks for showing up in large numbers last week-end for the brew-a-rama. I know, you hate the name but the idea is fun. Although the gravity was low and a boil-over was necessary (yeah right), the day went on very well. Sort of goes to show you that whenever you talk too much, the wort knows what you are doing and rewards you with a mess!
Second, the February meeting is almost on our doorsteps. It occurs on February 1, at 1, at CSPS. This will be a highly charged meeting in the dregs of the winter. It is a great time for brewing beer and discussing beer related things but.....
The real purpose of this meeting is to elect a new group of club officers and to solicit ideas from the club to help shape the events for 2003. We will be sharing all sorts of information about club business. The new president will give the state of the club address. Did we mention the gala event following the swearing in ceremonies? Make sure you bring your tux or formal..... Sorry, I got a little carried away.
The real message in this message is to get you thinking about this club, your level of participation, your desires, thoughts, and requests. After all, when it all gets out of the brew kettle, it should be good beer right? We have a purpose and mission to help others produce and appreciate the fine qualities of good beer. Along with this purpose, we need to help new brewers become confident, ensure ideas are listened to, and constructively criticize (with honor) the quality of some of our members early attempts.
So there you have it or at least I get to see if the barn will accept this message.
Keep thinking about things you can contribute and jot down some notes. Look forward to seeing you on February 1st.
Rick Oftel - from home!
Ask not what your brew club can do for you, ask what you can do for your brew club!

Bon dia Rondon,
Excuse me if the spelling is wrong.
I have had Pilsner Urquell in Germany on tap and the bottled version in
the US.
I recognize a difference, but I think it is due to the travel the beer goes
through.
To answer your question - Is it bitter.
I say both versions are more malty to me.
However, to anyone who is not used to the taste of hops, they might think of
it as bitter. German pilsners like bitberger are more bitter than P.U.
Does this imported refuse to import any bitter beer?
Some pale ales for example from the US are bitter.
