> Craig last played for us in February of 2010, and it’s been far too long since we’ve seen him! This will be Craig’s THIRD show at the Old Kitchen Rug. Craig’s music will make your sides split with laughter, and the next moment touch your heart. Craig honed his chops in Portland, but now resides in Nashville as an adjunt professor of music guitar. He has opened for Richard Thompson, Catie Curtis, Boz Scaggs, Roseanne Cash, Ry Cooder, John Hyatt, and Warren Zevon, and his songs have been recorded by Trisha Yearwood, Kathy Mattea, and Peter, Paul and Mary.
>
> Performing Songwriter Magazine says, “Like the best of Elvis Costello and Warren Zevon, Carothers finds the right mix of weary-eyed cynicism and helpless hearted romanticism… Love songs of the most adult and intelligent kind….”

> Please join us for a stories and songs with Craig Carothers on Saturday, November 9, 2019 starting at 8pm.

It is simply a gathering of our friends and guests to enjoy live music, fellowship, food (a potluck) and fun. It is officially free (or else it might be considered a business), although voluntary contributions (suggested donation of $24 per person) are accepted on behalf of the artists. 100% of all contributions go directly to the performers. Hello, local judges, regional judges, and previous NBA competition participants!
The Nordeast Brewers Alliance is hosting our annual BJCP-sanctioned competition again this year with judging taking place December 6-8 in Northeast Minneapolis. We look forward to your participation again! This year we will be folding the <https://old.reddit.com/r/Homebrewing/> /r/homebrewing sub-Reddit competition into our normal competition, including a /r/homebrewing-specific category with a member-voted showcase ingredient.
Quick dates:
* October 1: Competition website opens for judge, steward, and participant registration
* November 1: Website opens for general entry registration
* Early/mid-November: Registration opens for the /r/homebrewing category entry registration
* November 30: All entries are due at a drop-off or mail-in location
* December 6-8: Judging sessions at East Side Neighborhood Services in Northeast Minneapolis
Registration site: <https://nordeasthbc.brewcompetition.com/> https://nordeasthbc.brewcompetition.com
Volunteers at the event will be provided food and beers will be on tap between rounds. All experience levels of judges and stewards are welcome to join with new attendees being paired with experienced judges. Breweries, brewing equipment companies, and homebrew shops are already providing prizes and sponsorship for both volunteers and category winners with more coming in over the next weeks.
As the competition planning committee works through the details, follow-up messages will be provided on the judging times and any details on entries. Dates and drop-off/mailing locations are subject to change and will be locked down over the next weeks.
Thank you for considering our event! Please reach out if there are any questions!

Hey guys. Have any of you done any canning, pickling etc?
Any idea if using StarSan to sanitize jars instead of steaming them, boiling etc. would be a good idea? Anyone with experience?
Thank you in advance!

Hi Alexey, With sanitation being so important in canning, I would think you would want to boil/steam, to be certain. StarSan does a good job, but there is always the question of, "Did it touch that particular spot?" and also the notion of whether the acid concentration was high enough . . . Too many factors involved for me with StarSan to try it. Boiling/steaming is so easy . . . Cheers,John Personal. Professional.
