MHBA BOTTLE SWAP!
June 4-6, 2020
Do you miss hanging out at MHBA meetings and sharing beers with your buds? YOU BET YOU DO!! But how to do it, given the global pandemic lockdown? WE HAVE A PLAN FOR AN MHBA BOTTLE SWAP!!
THURSDAY, JUNE 4 – 5-7pm
Bring one or two six-packs of homebrew of 12oz. bottles (in 6-pack holders) of a SINGLE VARIETY of your labeled beer, mead, or cider to Al Boyce’s house on Thursday, June 4, between 5 and 7pm, and hand them to Al through your car window or from your opened trunk (in an appropriately “Socially Distanced” manner.) We will mix them all up, and repack your 6-pack holders with six or twelve DIFFERENT beers from your fellow MHBA members.
NOTE: You MUST label EACH BOTTLE with bottle labels below. Attach with rubber band to bottle. Please do this PRIOR to arriving at Al’s house. SEE ATTACHMENT FOR LABEL
FRIDAY, JUNE 5 – 5-7pm
Come back to Al’s house on Friday, June 5, between 5 and 7pm and Al will hand you your new beers through your car window or to your opened trunk, and you can drive home to sort through your spoils! DON’T DRINK THEM YET! The FUN part is yet to come! Chill your stash overnight!
SATURDAY, JUNE 6 – 7-9pm
On Saturday, Jun 6 at 7pm LOG IN TO ZOOM (Zoom link to follow in comments below) and we will share each other’s beers in real time! We’ll have the brewers talk about their brews, and we can offer them our feedback!
BONUS POINTS if it’s the beer you brewed on BIG BREW DAY!
THIS WILL BE FUN!!!!
Al’s house:
3208 Edgewood Ave S.
St.Louis Park, MN 55426
763-412-6836
(drive NORTH in alley between Edgewood & Dakota)
(See MAP in comments below)
From Highway 100 –
• Exit on Minnetonka Boulevard and go west for about 0.5 miles
• Turn south (left) at the light on Dakota Ave S. for about 0.4 miles
• Turn west (right) 33rd St west
• Pass Edgewood Ave south, and turn right into the alley between Edgewood and Dakota
• Stop at Al’s white garage, 3 garages south of 32nd Ave S, white picket fence
Al will be sitting in his driveway with your hooch!
Note: do NOT take the Wooddale exit off of Hwy 7! There is Light Rail construction going on, and the intersection is shut down.
Just a quick test of the mba list hoping everybody is still
enjoying as much craft brew as possible during this time
of no bars / tap rooms.
I have migrated thebarn.com email system to a new mail server
setup and just wanted to test the list to make sure things are
functioning as expected.

Al and Dave:
We are hosting a MN Cider Guild event on the 28th here that will feature a couple of courses for home cider makers. I wonder if you can help get the word out to home brewers?

I believe you had asked me to come and say something at a MN Home Brewers event tomorrow at noon. Is that still the plan?
Can you just let me know what you had in mind as far as my involvement?
Thanks!

Adam Bystrom, Josh Mahoney, and other MHBA members did the club PROUD at Mash-Out! Thank you to everyone who entered under the club name, and congratulations to the following members whose wares were deemed medal-worthy. Josh Mahoney took second in Best of Show Mead, Adam Bystrom won TEN(!) mead medals, and Kevin Meintsma and Anthony Davis each also won a mead medal. Paul Dienhart and Colby Reineke each won two medals for their beers! The club looks forward to trying some of these award-winning beverages at an upcoming meeting (hint, hint . . . )! https://mashout.org/bcoem/ Personal. Professional.
