Subject: [sphbc] Mashout bottle sort
Early warning: We are still finalizing details with NB, but expect the bottle sort for Mashout to be held at NB World headquarters Sunday, Jan 12. Start time probably ~9:00. Details will be confirmed in a follow-up message.
Remember that the deadline for local drop off is noon on Friday Jan 10. If you will be coming to the sort, you may bring them with you on Sunday, provided you stay to help.
We’ll have ~2,000 bottles to unpack, sort, and label. Many hands make light work. Once we’ve locked in the details, please pass the info along to other clubs if you’re a member of you’ve got contact info.
Thanks,
Aric

Subject: 2020 Mashout is Filling Up
Quick update - the 2020 Mashout is already half-full!
If you've entered and paid, great! Sit back, relax, consider entering more
beers (just don't think too long).
If you've entered but haven't paid, what are you waiting for?
If you haven't entered, see above!
All the details are here: https://www.mashout.org
Mr. Meseeks says "Existence is pain" but he's never missed out on entering
Mashout because we filled up!

Hey gang -
The 2020 Mashout is accepting entries and volunteers!
NEW this year is that the Mashout is a qualifier for the American Mead
Makers Association Meadmaker of the Year competition. This will bring in a
LOT more entries, so the 1000-bottle competition limit will probably be met
FASTER.
HURRY UP and get your entries in if you want to play! See website URL
below.

Hi all,
I have signed up for Minneapolis to be among the sites registered for the next quarterly beer written exam on Feb 9. There is no minimum number needed for the quarterly exam, though I have two signed up already. I'd love to have more!
If you want to get on the list, see the procedures below. If you have questions about the exam, please just let me know. I would also be happy to set up a study group if people are interested in that.
To register for the exam, please do the following:
* send me $25 for the exam fee by Jan 2, either by PayPal (joe.gerteis(a)gmail.com <mailto:joe.gerteis@gmail.com> ) or Venmo (@Joseph-Gerteis)
* send me an email that states that you have paid, and include your name, BJCP ID, and the email address you use for the BJCP.
You can read about the beer written exam here: http://dev.bjcp.org/exam-certification/exam-program-overview/bjcp-exam-stru…

To get your tastebuds ready for Saturday's Holiday Potluck Party at Summit, please come to Torg Brewing this Thursday. In September the club held the Iron Brewer competition, and this year's mandatory ingredient was wood. Torg agreed to brew the best entry that the law and their systems allow, and Nathan Steigman's Dark IPA aged on hickory was selected. Nathan went to Torg in October to help brew a version of his recipe, and the resulting beverage will be released Thursday at Torg from 6-9! https://mnbrewers.com/events/event/nathans-beer-at-torg/ Personal. Let's leave the loop and go drink some club members' professional beers, eh? Some carpooling might be in order as we head south and west to u4ic and Roets' Brewery on the 20th. Homemade beverages are welcome at both stops, as these venues are open just for us that evening! Tim Roets will have a prize for his favorite homemade beverage . . . https://mnbrewers.com/events/event/double-social/ Personal. Professional.

Hey guys. Anyone has May/June 2014 issue of Zymurgy magazine? There is a Crursty Berliner Bread recipe on page 44. I'd like to get a copy of that recipe if possible.
Thank you
