FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Summit Releases West London-Style Ale as Part of 30th Anniversary
Celebration
Party at Brit's Pub Aug. 7 to commemorate brewery's birthday
ST. PAUL, Minn. (Aug. 3, 2016) - Summit Brewing Company
<http://www.summitbrewing.com/> today announces the release of 30th
Anniversary West London-Style Ale
<http://www.summitbrewing.com/brews/30th-Anniversary-West-London-Style-Ale>
, the third of four celebratory beers in the brewery's 30th Anniversary
Series. The beer will be released at a Summit 30th Anniversary Celebration
from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7 at Brit's Pub in downtown Minneapolis.
The event will feature the inaugural tapping of West London-Style Ale served
alongside other Summit favorites, plus live music by Freddie Manton & The
Southsiders and Hard Day's Night Beatles Tribute Band. West London-Style Ale
will then be available on draught and in six- and 12-packs of 12-ounce cans
the second week of August.
Combining the classic Maris Otter ale malt with traditional and modern hop
varieties, head brewer Damian McConn produced a sophisticated yet
highly-drinkable British-Style Best Bitter. It is medium-bodied with toasty,
graham cracker malt flavors, complemented with hop flavors and aromas of
loganberry, redcurrant, grapefruit and lime.
"The 30th Anniversary Series showcases the unique qualities and attributes
that have helped drive Summit forward over the last three decades," said
McConn. "We kicked off the series early in the year with a powerful Double
IPA, followed up in late spring with a classical German Keller Pils, and now
we're staying across the pond as we enter August with a thirst-quenching
session ale packed with flavor. West London-Style Ale presents complexity,
character and drinkability in a low ABV beer with an assertive hop profile
that doesn't overwhelm beer lovers."

special message from Dick Nilles, winner of last years Master of Malt
competition, thus this years organizer.
If you plan to attend, but have not let anyone know, please do so by This
Friday (July 29). It helps with dinner planning.

camp out details.
MASTER OF MALT INFO FROM DICK
Hi all,
With the Minnesota All-club Campout coming up, I thought I better send out a
reminder about the Master of Malt Competition.
As most of you know, since the first year of the Minnesota All Club Campout
there has been the Master of Malt competition. This is a low key competition
that takes place on Saturday afternoon at the Campout. Each club can submit
one entry for each of the four categories Open Ale, Open Lager, Open Belgian
and Open Mead.
The winner of those categories will go to a best of show to award the Master
of Malt trophy. You can deliver your beer in whatever container you wish,
bottles, growlers, carbonators or keg, but you will need to supply enough
for 2 rounds of judging.
I am also reminding last years winners to return the traveling trophies
(either in person or send them with someone) for each of the categories so
they can be passed on this year.
Hope to see you all at the Campout, if you have any questions feel free to
contact me or others who have attended before.
CAMP OUT DETAILS
Friday through Sunday August 5-7
El Rancho Manana
27302 Ranch Road

(Near Cold Springs, not far from St. Cloud)
Keep reading for more campout details: Please let me know ahead of time of
you're planning on coming. This will help us plan, especially for Saturday
dinner. E-Mail tsarne(a)msn.com <mailto:tsarne@msn.com> to indicate your
plan to attend, at least a week in advance would be appreciated.
Camp Details:
* El Rancho Manana is a multi use site. For the campout we have a
large group space, primitive, portable toilets, community water spigot, no
electricity,
* If you want more luxury, they do have more developed sites, call the
campground to find out more information and rates on those.
* El Rancho has a variety of other perks including a beach, shower
house, water bike rentals, horseback riding etc., all on site, only a short
walk or car ride from our group site.
* Our location is an open space, not a lot of shade, if you have a
portable canopy, you may want to bring it.
Cost and Registration Information:
* Cost is $25 per adult for the two nights. If you wish to extend
your stay before or after, you can do that at a cost of $10 per adult for
the extra night.
* Please call El Rancho for reservations at 320.597.2740 and state you
are with the Minnesota Homebrewers Camp-Out. The sooner the better.
* There will also be a minimal charge for those participating in
Saturday's dinner. Final costs will be determined on site, and will be
somewhere between $5 and $10 per adult, no charge for children.
What to Expect
* If you've been to the campout, you know it's primarily a time to
kick back and enjoy good beer and fun beer drinkers.
* Feel free to participate as you wish
* Bring beer to share. Club jockey boxes will be available so kegs are
welcome and encouraged
* The campfires are always accompanied by the passing around of great
beers for all to sample. Start thinking now about what delectable delights
you'll bring in your cooler.
* The host clubs cook dinner Saturday evening, for all other meals,
you'll want to make sure you bring food for yourself and/or family
* Of course, bring your own camping gear and chairs
* Well behaved dogs welcome
Special Events:
Over the years some traditions have developed and some new ones are added:
* Master of Malt: This fun competition between clubs has been held at
the campout since 1992 (yes this will be year 25). Each club can enter up
to four brews: one for ALES, one for LAGERS, one for BELGIANS, and one for
MEAD/CIDERS. There will be awards for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in all categories
and best of all, you will be competing for the coveted title of Master of
Malt! The win is recorded forever in history for your club AND you get to
spend a full year with the prestigious Master of Malt trophy. It is kind of
like the Stanley Cup (but not really)!
* Sour Hour: A tart happy hour. Sometime in the lull between the
Master of Malt competition and dinner we will get together and break out
some sour beers. It is a very casual thing. Bring and share if you like
sours.
* Bloody Mary Mornings (okay, maybe early afternoon for later risers):
Some of us like to start the day with a good Bloody Mary (remember the old
saying, "you can't drink all day if you don't start in the morning.") This
is another low key event, if you would like to begin your day this way,
bring your own mix and vodka to begin, but also bring one Bloody Mary
Builder to share with the group (pickles, beef sticks, cheese, celery, the
list is endless). Let's see how creative we can get.
* Saturday Dinner: Saturday's dinner will be prepared and hosted by
the Cloudy Town Brewers and Northern Alestars. This years dinner will be
pulled pork with salad and desserts to accompany. So we can plan for dinner
pleased indicate your participation by e-mailing <mailto:tsarne@msn.com>

Trying to see if we have a quorum for the Mead Exam on Sept 11, and if
anyone is interested in a prep class for it on Aug 8, and Sept 1, 8. Let me

I also have a beer exam scheduled for that same day. Let me know if you'd
like to take (or retake) the Tasting Exam.
Both exam are open to anyone, any club.

Greetings Brewers,
I'm working with a fellow writer - they'd like to interview homebrewers who
grow their own hops and also brew with them. Deadline is in the next 5 or

Please contact me via PM and I'll pass along your name and contact info.
Cheers,
