Subject: Spring Brew Grape Shipment
Date: Mon, 20 Feb 2017 14:29:19 -0800
Hi Minnesota Home Brewers Assoc,
Wine Grapes Direct is largest supplier of wine grapes to breweries in the USA. We are considering a spring bulk pre-order shipment to Minneapolis for immediate local pick up upon arrival at a local homebrew shop.
I have reached out to others in the area to gauge interest. I would need to get a total of at least 20 pails all together to make this shipment happen.
This would include bulk order pricing as well, since we don't have Fedex and material expenses.
Zinfandel is discounted more deeply since we have surplus.
Bulk Order Pricing - No additional shipping cost. 2016 Chenin Blanc - $100 - Normally $1102016 Roussanne - $135 - Normally $155 2013 Durell Syrah - $120 - Normally $1552016 Zinfandel - $95 - Normally $1352016 Cabernet Sauvignon - $135 - Normally $1552016 Mourvedre - $115 - Normally $1452016 Tempranillo - $125 - Normally $1452016 Napa Merlot - $165 - Normally $195
Let me know if you're interested. Spread the word if you know of anyone else buying grapes in your area so we can get to 20 pails!
Cheers!

http://www.mnbrewers.com/events/event/2017-bowling-homebrew/ Bring the family (and the homebrew!) to St. Francis Bowling Center in Saint Paul on Sunday, March 26th, from 12:30-3:00. This family-friendly club event is free for all members in good standing; the only cost to you (besides possibly your pride) is $2/person for shoes. Children and homebrew are welcome! A lane or two will have bumper buddies (gutter guards) for anyone who needs them. There’s no need to be there right at 12:30; please bring some snacks, stop by when you’re able, roll a few balls, and quaff a few homebrews. This is one of the last of the German-Catholic basement bowling alleys that were quite prevalent in the second half of the previous century. We have the entire place and all six lanes to ourselves during our rented time. There will be door prizes, and a prize for the best homebrew. The St. Francis Bowling Center is located in the St. Francis school building at 426 S. Osceola Avenue, St. Paul, MN 55102, just one block north of the intersection of Randolph and West 7th. http://www.sf-sj.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&id=41&Itemi… See you there! Subject: Summit Brewing Company Releases Unchained 24: Spring Saison
Greetings from Summit Brewing!
Coming up March 2, 2017, we’re releasing a brand-new limited beer, Summit Unchained 24: Spring Saison. It’s Brewer James Birnie’s first crack at an Unchained beer.
Since its launch in 2009, the rotating Unchained Series has allowed our brewers to explore their craft, experiment with ingredients from around the world, and basically ignore budgets altogether. As our President and Founder Mark Stutrud says, as long as it’s legal, they can brew it.
Perfectly suited to usher in the spring season, James Birnie’s Belgian-style saison is highly carbonated, tart, and refreshing. Its herbal, spicy, and peppery flavors and aromas will arrive on draught and in 6-packs of 12-ounce cans during the first week of March.
I’ve pasted the full press release below, and you can read more about the beer at www.summitbrewing.com/brews/spring-saison <http://www.summitbrewing.com/brews/spring-saison> . Finally, please click here <https://www.dropbox.com/sh/eaq1t2lj4j01ofc/AABbN2WGaXr2CL1cOsCfdskHa?dl=0> for images.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Summit Releases Unchained 24: Spring Saison <http://www.summitbrewing.com/summit-releases-unchained-24>
Brewer James Birnie Tackles His First Unchained Series Beer
ST. PAUL, Minn. (February 22, 2017) – Since its launch in 2009, our rotating Unchained Series has allowed Summit brewers to explore their craft, experiment with ingredients from around the world, and basically ignore budgets altogether. The result? They’ve crafted a total of 24 unique, small-batch beers, each one distinct from those offered in our year-round portfolio. To date, series standouts have included Old 152, a pre-prohibition Kentucky-style ale; Make It So, an Extra Special Bitter infused with Earl Grey Tea; and, most recently, Dark Infusíon, last year’s highly coveted Coffee Milk Stout. You all remember that one?
Following in this anything-goes tradition is Brewer James Birnie’s first Unchained Series beer, a highly carbonated, tart, and refreshing Belgian-style saison. Perfectly suited to usher in the spring season, Unchained 24: Spring Saison and its herbal, spicy, and peppery flavors and aromas will arrive on draught and in 6-packs of 12-ounce cans during the first week of March. We’ve scheduled its first tapping for Thursday, March 2, right here at the Summit Beer Hall.
Brewed to highlight the flavors and aromas generated by yeast throughout fermentation, James used a yeast strain from a small Belgian farmhouse brewery. Additionally, because he wanted a crisp, low-ABV beer, he opted for simplicity in malt. “For the base malt,” James says, “I chose Moravian 37, an heirloom variety grown in North Dakota by the family of our President, Mark Stutrud.” The more discerning among you may recognize Moravian 37 as the same malt used in Summit Pilsener, Maibock and Oktoberfest. (Good job, Grain Gurus.)
“Finally, for hops,” James says, “I used a classic Czech hop, Saaz, and my favorite American variety, Cascade. Paired together, they offer some nice pine and herbaceous notes to the beer.”
With its medley of light and fragrant aromas, as well as its bright carbonation and hop spiciness, try pairing our Spring Saison with foods like grilled lamb medallions, rosemary smashed potatoes, focaccia bread with olive oil and aged Gouda, grilled asparagus, and lemon crème brule. Then, take a long nap if you feel so inclined.
Although more experimental in nature than the beers we typically offer, these releases are brewed with the same uncompromising commitment to quality as our year-round Summit beers. In fact, you folks frequently ask us to re-release your favorites. Like, all the time. But before we start recycling our greatest hits, we’ll release two more brand-new Unchained Series beers in 2017. Our best advice is to get them before they’re gone, or you’ll be sad.

Hi Club Friends!
I don't remember who is more "in charge" than others but wanted to confirm what I have spoken to many of you about already. Because there is no NHC first round judging in Minneapolis this year, Northern Brewer has volunteered to be an unofficial drop-off site for local customers. We will drive the drop offs to the Milwaukee drop off location (only) the last day of the drop off window (Wednesday, March 8th) so all entries MUST BE DROPPED OFF NO LATER THAN TUESDAY, MARCH 7TH. Both Northern Brewer stores and Midwest Supplies will accept entries. There will also be a Send Off Party at the Minneapolis store the evening before. We encourage everyone to bring 2 extra bottles of your entries to share with your competitors! More details on this soon.
Please spread the word to your members. We are not charging anyone for this. It's purely a service we would like to provide local homebrewers to avoid the hassle and costs of shipping alcohol.
Feel free to respond with any questions you might have.
Cheers!

It will be held at the Kahler Grand <https://goo.gl/maps/W5tc7Q3ZEWP2> in downtown Rochester. Start time is currently planned for 10 am. More details to come, so stay tuned to our razecompetition.site <http://razecompetition.site/> to register and for changes to info as the time gets closer. Write back to express your interest in the trolley tour, or for any other questions you may have.
Winners will be announced at the Rochester Craft Beer Expo at the Mayo Civic Center on Saturday, May 6. This is a great event, do come in to enjoy if you can!
Hope everyone is having an excellent weekend!

The barrel has a home, and will be arriving in about four weeks, so we just need a few more members who want to put five to ten gallons of imperial stout into this Kentucky bourbon barrel. No one's beer is guaranteed barrel space; all beers will be taste-tested by the other contributors before entering the barrel. The club is purchasing the barrel, so your only cost is the beer ingredients. And then there will be a second barrel project, open to a new batch of members, around mid-April when the first batch comes out of the barrel. Personal. Professional.
