Subject: Summit Brewing Co. Releases Belgian-Style Pale Ale
Greetings from Summit Brewing!
We’ve got a new beer to tell you about today: Summit Belgian-Style Pale Ale <http://www.summitbrewing.com/brews/belgian-style-pale-ale> . Featuring spicy and floral European hops, select malts from Germany, England, and Belgium, and a stellar Belgian yeast strain, this new Belgian Pale offers up notes of graham cracker, honey, toast, and orange zest.
And even though we’re coming up on the fall season, there’s no pumpkin spice in this beer. Head Brewer Damian McConn isn’t into gimmicks.
We’ll debut the Belgian Pale Ale at the Summit Beer Hall this Thursday 8/31 at 4 p.m., and it’ll arrive on draft and in 6-packs and 12-packs of 12-oz. cans in early September.
I’ve pasted the full press release below (available online here <http://www.summitbrewing.com/summit-brewing-co-releases-belgian-style-pale-…> ), and you can find images of the beer in this Dropbox folder <https://www.dropbox.com/sh/zfuespdqt85on8g/AAB4eqPiSOk068I2Gq9Uw9X6a?dl=0> .
Cheers!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Summit Brewing Co. Releases Belgian-Style Pale Ale
Get Your Pumpkin Beer Somewhere Else
ST. PAUL, Minn. (August 28, 2017) – The days are getting shorter. The nights are getting cooler. All across the Midwest, folks are reaching for their favorite flannels and fall-flavored beers. And though we enjoy pumpkin spice as much as the next nutmeg aficionado, we’ve got something different for you this season: Summit Belgian-Style Pale Ale <http://www.summitbrewing.com/brews/belgian-style-pale-ale> .
Arriving on draft and in 12-oz. cans in early September, this elegant and complex hop-forward pale ale is tailor-made for autumn in Minnesota. With spicy and floral European hops, select malts from Germany, England, and Belgium, and a stellar Belgian yeast strain, Summit Belgian-Style Pale Ale offers up subtle malt flavors of graham cracker, honey, and toast, along with mild hop notes of orange zest and thirst-quenching bitterness.
Inspired by the world-class pale ales of Belgium’s West Flanders region — famous for its hop and cereal cultivation — our new, limited-edition Pale Ale marries a traditional recipe and old-world copper equipment with modern ingredients and a new, state-of-the-art fermentation cellar. The results reflect our classical approach to beer and brewing: No gimmicks. No short cuts. Just the beer we’d want to drink, made the best way we know how. And we think you’ll appreciate that.
“Autumn in the U.S. tends to be dominated by pumpkin beers and wet-hopped IPAs,” says Head Brewer Damian McConn. “Why not offer beer lovers something different? It’s spritzy and refreshing enough for a warm September day, and hearty enough for a cool October evening.” Sounds about as versatile as a nice denim jacket, doesn’t it?
Summit Belgian-Style Pale Ale will be tapped first at the Summit Beer Hall Thursday, August 31, which is the very same day it’s packaged in kegs. Bottom line: you won’t find beer any fresher.
Shortly after that, our Belgian Pale will be available on draft and in 6-packs and 12-packs of stylish 12-oz. cans. Find images of our Belgian Pale here <https://www.dropbox.com/sh/zfuespdqt85on8g/AAB4eqPiSOk068I2Gq9Uw9X6a?dl=0> , and for more information about Summit Belgian-Style Pale Ale, please visit www.summitbrewing.com/summit-brewing-co-releases-belgian-style-pale-ale <http://www.summitbrewing.com/summit-brewing-co-releases-belgian-style-pale-…> .

One last plea for help. If there is anyone available, I could still use one
or two additional judges to help out with pre-judging Stouts and Specialty
Cider for the State Fair Homebrew competition tomorrow evening at my place
in Eagan around 6PM. If you can help out, let me know and I'll get you the
details.
Who can help judge State Fair entries at my Roseville home this coming Monday at 7:00? Cheers!John Personal. Professional.

Hey all -
I have a BJCP Beer and Mead exam scheduled for Minneapolis on Sunday, Sept
17 - do I have any takers? I need to field six people for each exam to make
them go.
For the Beer exam, you either need to be an existing BJCP judge (cost $15),
or pass the online exam (cost $40) to qualify.
https://bjcp.coursewebs.com/cart/pageCatalog.aspx
For the Mead exam, everyone must pass the online exam. Cost for the tasting
exam is $15 for existing BJCP judges, $40 for new mead-only judges.
https://bjcp.coursewebs.com/cart/pageCatalog.aspx
To reserve your seat, send a non-refundable check for the appropriate
amount, made out to me. Please put which test you're signing up for in the
memo section.

(If I have to cancel the exam(s) - then I will refund your payment.)
If anyone is interested, I'd be happy to host a mead study group before the
mead exam for those taking the test.
If I don't get enough people signed up for the exam by Sept 3, I'll have to
let them go.
Please pass this along to your club members, and any other local clubs that
you know of that I haven't already invited.

I don't like to beg, but I have almost thirty of the fifty tickets still left for sale. This is something like year thirteen of this annual event, and I've never sold fewer than 49 tickets of the 50, and most years I sell more than 50. PLEASE purchase tickets NOW (non-members and families are VERY welcome at this event!!), so that the club does not eat a ton of money. We cannot turn back the tickets, and for twelve years have never had even ONE extra ticket. http://www.mnbrewers.com/events/event/sinning-saints-2017/ Personal. Professional.
