Almost too late to call this the May newsletter, but it's out and ready to
download at http://mnbrewers.com/?300604/05_2011_Boiler.pdf
I apologize on the file size this month. It's quite a bit larger than past
issues due to several pictures.

Homebrewers, I know that someone out there needs a seven faucet jockey box. The post is from Duluth so it means you need to go on a road trip. If the link doesn't work, go to Duluth craigslist and search on cold plate.
Just think how impressive it would be if our club stacked up and connected all of our jockey boxes at the same time. You could call it a wall of beer!

Hey everyone.
I was in the middle of typing up the email listing the results when the tornado hit. My husband, cats and I are all okay, but my house was damaged. It will be a few days before I can post the results. Sorry about the inconvenience.

Hi y'all -
I'm serving up the Witbier I made at Big Brew tomorrow (FRIDAY) night at our

time! Bring some of your homebrew too!
Drop me an email if you want details...
Thanks!

Subject: Minneapolis/St. Paul Beer School
Hey guys-
I just wanted to drop you guys a line about this Minneapolis/St. Paul Beer School thing that I'm doing, and hopefully you could pass it on. We're running "classes" every Wednesday from 5:30-6:30PM at the Happy Gnome in St. Paul. Each week were bringing in a different brewery to sample their beers and talk about their product. So far we've had Goose Island (who brought Sofie, Pepe Nero, Matilda, and Pere Jacques) and Artisanal Imports (who brought Tripel Karmeliet, Meantime IPA, La Trappe Quad in bottles and on tap, and Bockor Cuvee des Jacobin Rouge), and this week we have Summit coming in to sample cask versions of the EPA with different hop varieties in each. Sessions are free to attend and require no advance sign-up. Since we're still just getting started, I'd really appreciate it if you could pass this on to any craft beer enthusiasts you know, and hopefully I'll get to see you guys at a class or two! We don't exactly have a website set up, but all of our information can be found on facebook at http://www.facebook.com/mspbeerschool . Thanks much!

Subject: 2011 THIRSTY Classic Last Call for judges
The 2011 THIRSTY Classic has been reinstated and moved from Fall to Spring.
Judging will be Saturday, May 14 at Millstream Brewery in Amana, IA
This is an opportunity to support a leg of the High Plains Brewer of the Year Award, earn judging points, and hang out with other judges and homebrewers for the day.
Bagels and coffee are provided in the morning as well as a noon lunch.
Please reply to this e-mail if you will be judging on Saturday.
Thank you
Susan Walsh
President of THIRSTY
THIRSTY Classic coordinator.
Fellow Homebrewers and club members; this is Rick Oftel here with a short club announcement.
For the last 4 years, the MHBA provided "highway" clean-up services for a road in Hennepin County. This worked well as we were able to acquire bags and other supplies from a local facility in Bloomington just a few blocks away from my office.
The events typically started with a coffee and roll and ended with a club funded BBQ.
Times are tough. The individual that delivered supplies to this facility is not providing this service requiring someone to drive to Medina to acquire "official" bags.
I am not opposed to driving however; I am not able to travel during normal business hours.
Unless anyone else volunteers to make the bag pickup, I propose that I contact the county and advise them that we fulfilled our obligation, and are not able to continue.
Suggestions and ideas welcomed.
Sincerely,
Rick Oftel

Today is the last day to sign up to judge or steward for the MN Craft Beer Week Home Brew Contest. The website is www.mncraftbeerweekcontest.com. Final count, we have 130 entries! I totally welcome judges of all skill levels and will pair those with limited experience with people who have taken the BJCP exam.
Judging will be Saturday, May 14th upstairs at the Nomad World Pub at 501 Cedar Avenue South, Minneapolis. (It is located about 1/3 mile from Town Hall.)
This contest is registered with the AHA/BJCP.
There are two sessions: 10 am and 1:30 pm. Pizza will be served for lunch. The Nomad has great things on tap, so make sure to bring cash/card for beers.
If you have any questions, please send me an email at gera_latour(a)hotmail.com.
Hope to see you there!
