Subject: Flat Earth Brewing Company April Update
Warm weather has got us thinking Spring or maybe it's Summer! We now have
growlers of our Hep Cat Blonde Ale. Originally brewed for the Twin Cities
Jazz Fest, this light bodied beer is highly quaffable and just in time for
BBQ season. We also have growlers of Ovni Biere de Garde, which will go
perfectly with your big dinner this weekend. Other growler goodies are
available too. Go to www.flatearthbrewing.com for a weekly update.
Our big news for the month is the addition of a few new players to the Flat
Earth team. Tim will be helping out, along with Bob in day to day operations
at the brewery and Jack will be taking over our draft sales, so if you see
them around say "Hi!"
Growler Hours:
We are open for growler sales Monday thru Friday from noon - 6:30 and
Saturday noon - 3. The tasting lounge is open from 3:30 - 6:30 Tuesdays &
Thursdays.
Brewery Tours:
Reservations are needed for our brewery tours now. Our April tours are full,
but we do have spots available on our May tours (8th & 22nd).
Email to: tour(a)flatearthbrewing.com for a reservation.
That's the news from the brewery this month!
Cheers!

The good news--the Twins' new stadium opens this evening (yes, I'll be there!), so baseball season is officially upon us! :)
The bad news--very few are stepping forward to purchase tickets for the Saints game on Monday, May 17th! :( After three straight years of selling 50 tickets, we are nowhere near that right now.
The ugly truth--If we don't get a whole bunch of people signed up by April 17th, I'll probably need to cancel the tables, chairs, and keg of Flat Earth the club was paying for. If we don't get quite a few more to sign up, we may have to cancel the tailgating spot. :( The tailgating spot, tables, chairs, and keg are not free, and are justifiable if we get our usual 50 folks. I can't ask the club to pay for all that if we're well short of that number.
The extra good news--there's still time to read the note below and sign up!!!!! Do it NOW!!!! :)
Please and thank you,
John
Here's the second-to-last call for signing up for the MN Homebrewers Association's Saints game. Details follow, but by April 17th I need to turn back tickets I don't think we'll sell, so just sign up NOW, please!
Here's the original info--
It's time to start planning for the MN Homebrewers Association's annual "Sinning with the Saints" event.
If you're new, here's how it works:
Each May, the club rents a tailgating spot for a game at Midway Stadium, home of the Saint Paul Saints baseball club. At 4:00, members (with their friends, and family) begin assembling at the tailgating spot. We grill, we chill, we enjoy being outside for the first time in six months. Homebrew is shared, and after 7:00 people trickle into the game to eat cotton candy and harass the opposing team. This year we'll be attending the Monday, May 17th contest against the Saltdogs of Lincoln, Nebraska.
New this year!--chairs and tables! The club has sprung for 50 chairs and five tables to be set up at our tailgating spot in advance of our arrival. Rumor has it that there might be a five-gallon keg of some local treat available as well.
Old this year!-- e-mail me with your ticket requests, then send a check (PAYABLE to MHBA) for $12 per ticket to John Longballa, 1015 Parker Ave, Roseville, 55113 We purchase 50 tickets for reserved seats, and have sold them all the past three years. It would help me a lot if people who are planning to attend could speak up before the week of the game, like NOW, please! (or at least by the end of March--pleeeeease?) Children aged three and older need a ticket.
Also old--we'll need a few folks to bring grills. Everyone should bring grillables and something to share. Plates, plastic ware, etc. are provided by the club.
Mark your calendars, e-mail me, send a check (payable to MHBA), then start planning your menu items!

Just a reminder about the MHBA meeting tomorrow at the Northern Brewer Warehouse from noon-3pm. (1945 County Road C2 W, St Paul, MN 55113)
We are encouraging people to bring home brewed beer/meads/ciders to share. (If you know what you are bringing, please drop me an email: gera_latour(a)hotmail.com, to make check-in easier.) We are giving a two $25 NB gift certificates for people's choice beer and mead/cider. It is also the AHA Club Only Competition for extract beers. Your beer might be selected to represent the club!
With all this good stuff to drink, you will need a glass! If your membership is current, you will get a MHBA tasting glass to keep. (You can sign up for membership/renew at the meeting.) This event is the only time the glasses are available.
Hungry? Sammiches from Subway will be provided! (Thanks Mike B.!)
Things to bring: home brew to share, friends and family interested in brewing, and a chair if you would like to sit.
And HUGE thanks to Juno Choi from Northern Brewer for setting this up for us!
See you tomorrow. -Gera
