Please note that the June meeting information has been changed from the Rahr
tour to saki at Moto-i. The updated information is listed below. If you
have any questions email me at csmitty42(a)yahoo.com.
Join us Thursday May 21st for Sinners at the Saints at Midway Stadium for
tailgating and baseball. The lot opens at 4:05 and the MHBA will be at
tailgate spot #5. If you didn't reserve tickets there should be tickets
available at the gate or if you don't want to go to the game come and
tailgate before the hand. Bring homebrew, grillables, and something to
share. Parking on the street and about $6 in the lot.
NEW LOCATION for June Meeting:
Learn saki making at moto-i
Due to an unforeseen development, the Rahr Malting tour is canceled.
Instead, for our June meeting, we will be learning about saki brewing at
moti-i, the first saki brewpub outside of Japan. Blake Richardson, owner of
the Herkimer brewpub, opened the saki pub last fall. Blake will provide a
tour of the brewery and explain saki production starting at 10:30 a.m. on
Saturday, June 6.
The restaurant opens at noon, and club members are welcome to hang out on
the rooftop patio and have lunch, saki or beers. Blake is fine with bottles
of homebrew being brought to the meeting but asks that the sampling stop
once his customers arrive at noon.
Here's your chance to learn about a brewing style that might eventually
become part of beer competitions. Saki is actually closer to beer
production than mead or cider.
The saki brewpub is on Lyndale, just north of West Lake Street. The
address is 2940 Lyndale. Here's a link: http://www.moto-i.com/

Hi, I'm a homebrewer, BJCP judge, beer geek, and whatnot from California. I'll be visiting my grandparents in Minnesota (specifically St. James) for the next week and was wondering if there are any homebrewers there that might want to get together for a pint and chat about beer. I'll probably be arriving Monday, leaving Saturday, probably taking a short little trip to New Ulm on Friday to see Schell's.
I might also have Monday evening and next Saturday/Sunday near Powderhorn Park in Minneapolis, so might be able to hit up a brew-pub or two then. Any recommendations?
Feel free to forward this on if you know someone. See you at the National Homebrewer's Conference or sooner...
Thanks folks!
Jon
