Subject: Welcome to Homebrew Island!
Great Lakes Brew Fest (www.greatlakesbrewfest.com) is looking for homebrew
clubs. Last year there were 7 clubs from Wisconsin and Illinois serving
their beer at this homebrew friendly fest. This year we are hoping to add
more. Bring at least 10 gallons of homebrew to serve and your club will get
4 tickets to the fest to serve it. The fest has almost 4,000 attendees and
is on the shores of Lake Michigan in September, in beautiful downtown
Racine, Wisconsin This years new theme for the clubs is "homebrew island"
.
Please contact Terry@tmgrommit@yahoo.com if interested.
Cheers
Terry

Ahh that is still refering to the old list serv software web interface.
I changed it a script that will automatically redirect people to the
right spot.
Somebody should update the web page tho.

Club Meeting – Saturday, March 14, 2009 noon-3pm
Sixth Annual Chili Cook-Off and Swap Meet
CSPS Hall, 383 Michigan St., St. Paul
Once again, it is time for our annual Chili Cook-Off!
There are three categories in which you can enter:
Red Chili – meat, but NO beans
Chili with Beans – not really chili, but we're here to have fun!
Open – green, vegetarian, white, whatever
Like last year, we'll have everyone vote for their favorite for each category and then have everyone vote for their favorite overall. The winner of each category gets a prize and the overall winner gets a prize and the honor of bringing home the Chief Chili Pepper trophy! Chief Chili Pepper is hurting right now, but I'll try to patch him up before the meeting.
You can help out by bringing your chili ready to eat in crock pots and bringing along extension cords and serving utensils. Bowls, spoons, and napkins will be provided.
The March meeting also features a swap meet. There are people that may want items you no longer need. You may find items yourself that will help upgrade your brewing operation. Bring stuff; take stuff.
Mike Moranz will also be speaking a little bit on peppers and their use in beer and mead.
Of course we welcome all the home brew you would like to bring to the meeting, especially beers that go well with chili. We even like mead and ciders.
For you facebook folks, take a look at the MhBA group (http://tinyurl.com/aeyrhn) and the Chili Cook-Off event (http://tinyurl.com/aldcfl)

This is your reminder to send in your checks for the Saints game occurring
Thursday, May 21st. E-mail me your requests, then send $12 per adult ticket
(kids are free) payable to MHBA to John Longballa, 1211 Minnehaha Ave W,
Saint Paul, 55104.
I was actually AT a Saints game of sorts at Midway Stadium this past
Saturday, as there was a five-inning charity game for Second Harvest food
shelf in the snow. I'm predicting warmer weather for our game in three
months.
Major league pitchers and catchers reported long ago, and spring training
games are well underway, so it's time to start thinking BASEBALL!
Tailgating begins at 4:00 that day, and the club pays for a tailgating area
to the side of the parking lot. We grill, chill, and share brews. At 7:05
we begin straggling in to the stadium to razz the opposing team, high-five
Mudonna (the Saints mascot), and to enjoy local beer with our peanuts and
Cracker Jack. Don't miss it.
We return the unsold tickets to the Saints at the end of April, so please
just sign up today, rather than procrastinating. Give me an accurate head
count by signing up EARLY this year, please!
Thanks,
John
