Avery Maharaja Super hoppy!
Maharaja is derived from the sanskrit words mahat, - "great" and rajan - "king". Much like its namesake, this imperial IPA is regal, intense and mighty. With hops and malts as his servants, he rules
both with a heavy hand. The Maharaja flaunts his authority over a deranged amount of hops: tangy, vibrant and pungent along with an insane amount of malted barley - fashioning a dark amber hue and exquisite malt essence.
102 IBU , 10% ABV

IN ON FRIDAY 20th!
Dark Horse Double Crooked Tree!
Super limited!
We actually took the Crooked Tree recipe and doubled all of the ingredients except the water, just the way a DOUBLE should be made. Big hops balanced with tons of malt give this beer a huge body.
Although this beer is as cool as "the Fonz" when first purchased, it gets really mellow and smooth with some age. After a year or two stored in a cool dark place you'll notice the heavy caramel and malt flavors are trying to sneak past the hops, they're just not fast enough. This beer is hugely delicious so it will need your undivided attention (the chores can wait....trust us).
Dark Horse
Arriving FRIDAY, we are only getting five cases!

I was trying to make the chili meeting Saturday, but Dawn was busy that day having our second son(!), so maybe next year. :)
His name is Soren Elliott Longballa, and he was born at 3:42 p.m. Saturday (so we COULD have made the meeting!), weighing in at 9 pounds, 15 ounces. He was two weeks overdue (as was brother, Cedar), so Dawn was again induced. All are well.
Not to be all Negative Nelly, but if ticket requests don't pick up in these final four weeks before I turn in the unsold tickets, we might have to discontinue the annual Saints event. :(
The past two years have each seen 50 people in attendance, but as of today there are only 16 people coming. I know it's two months away, but we need an accurate head count or else the club gets stuck with tons of tickets.
You have until April 19th to step up and claim your $12 tickets for the Thursday, May 21st Saint Paul Saints game with the MN Homebrewers Association. The club pays for a tailgating spot, and we grill and share for three hours before the first pitch.
Please e-mail me your requests, then send a check, payable to MHBA, to
John Longballa
1211 Minnehaha Ave W
Saint Paul 55104
Thanks,
John

Subject: [mnbrewers] 2009 Intra Club Campout!!
The date and place have been officially set for the 2009 Intra Club Campout, hosted this year by the Northern Ale Stars of Duluth & Superior. The campout will be held July 31 - Aug. 2 at the Buffalo Campground in Duluth http://www.campingfriend.com/BuffaloValley/default.asp?source=GCA . The cost will be $12.00 per person per night, tent or trailer. We will be in their group camping area which has picnic tables, fire rings (FIRE JENGA!) and electrical hookups. There are no water lines in the group area, but water is available at the main building and those with trailers can fill their tanks there. The campgrounds is next to the Willard Munger trail, so bring your bikes. They also have a softball field and vollyball courts we can use. Pets are allowed (yeah!).
Saturday, August 1st is National Mead Day so, of course, we will be celebrating by making and drinking mead.
More details will follow, but we wanted to get the word out so everyone can reserve the dates. Please forward this e-mail to any other clubs not listed above as I don't have their e-mail addresses.
Cheers,
Steve Daiken
