Hi Mike,
Just so happens I JUST sent this out. Please pass the word:
The date and place have been officially set for the 2009 Intra Club Campout,
hosted this year by the Northern Ale Stars of Duluth & Superior. The campout
will be held July 31 - Aug. 2 at the Buffalo Campground in Duluth
<http://www.campingfriend.com/BuffaloValley/default.asp?source=GCA>
http://www.campingfriend.com/BuffaloValley/default.asp?source=GCA . The cost
will be $12.00 per person per night, tent or trailer. We will be in their
group camping area which has picnic tables, fire rings (FIRE JENGA!) and
electrical hookups. There are no water lines in the group area, but water is
available at the main building and those with trailers can fill their tanks
there. The campgrounds is next to the Willard Munger trail, so bring your
bikes. They also have a softball field and vollyball courts we can use. Pets
are allowed (yeah!).
Saturday, August 1st is National Mead Day so, of course, we will be
celebrating by making and drinking mead.
More details will follow, but we wanted to get the word out so everyone can
reserve the dates. Please forward this e-mail to any other clubs not listed
above as I don't have their e-mail addresses.
Cheers,
Steve Daiken

Thanks!

Hello everyone. Hope you're having a great time with the warmer weather.
Luckily the basement is staying chilly enough to lager. But outside feels
great.
This is the first call for input/articles/columns/etc. for the April BOILER.
Try to get everything in by Friday or Saturday (Thursday for Gera - wink
wink) and I'll work with it Sunday and Monday.
We need ROTM, SOTM, Foam, maybe more information on the April Club Meeting /
Tasting... there seemed to be some confusion about what exactly it is at the
Board Meeting last weekend.
Chris, would you mind sending Brock and I some of the pictures you were
taking Saturday at the Chili Cook-Off. It would be cool to have a page of
photos, especially the one I think you have of you, Gera and Jon - the
winners of the cook-off. If you three winners wouldn't mind sending me at
least the name of your dish (the recipe would be the bomb! but I know space
& secrets may be an issue, but if you don't mind....)
I'll certainly mention BEER WARS movie again. I contacted the director and
might grab a phone interview over the weekend.
We'll add the St. Paul Beer Festival to the outlook for beer events. If you
haven't seen the list of breweries expected to be there you should:
http://www.stpaulsummerbeerfest.com/http://www.stpaulsummerbeerfest.com/brewers.html
An interview about this event may be more appropriate in May or June.
I'll list the Saints tailgating information again. Is there anything
new/more concret to announce about the camp-out?
Since this one won't be mailed out and space isn't so much an issue, Jon and
I discussed keeping an up to date list of the club library's holdings in the
newsletter... a plea for input on how to increase our content (in the
library and once again in the newsletter).
What else NEEDS to be in there? I remember getting some e-mail requests
which I'll go back through... but just in case anything new come up - I'll
all ears.
More surely to come.
Thanks for the kind words about the newsletter at the meeting. It's all
Brock.
Holla at your chipmunk!
Chip W.
Fun Fact of the Day:
Did you know we sure abbreviation with the Minnesota Hobby Beekeepers
Association? LOL! Maybe we can co-opt an even and make some mead or honey
brown or something. Wacky idea that just might work!
I guess that means I just appointed myself, huh?

(My apologies if you got this message twice. I'm having some e-mail
problems.)
A heads up to all members of the Minnesota Home Brewers Association.
All current 2009 members who attend the Saturday, April 4 meeting will
receive a free club tasting glass. The votive-style glass is
laser-etched with the club logo. This will be the only chance this year
to get a club glass. The April 4 meeting, noon to 3, will feature a
beer tasting of homebrew by club members, so you can use your taster
glass right away.
We have 150 paid members and another 100 who haven't yet renewed from
2008, but some meetings attract only 30 or 40 people. That's why the
board decided to reward people who actually attend a meeting.
More details are on the club Website: www.mnbrewers.com
Cheers,
Paul Dienhart

With more robust and complex flavors and nearly twice the alcohol by volume of your average beer, each style in the Imperial Series is intended to be savored and appreciated like a fine wine."

Utah draft beer to remain watered down
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- The Utah Senate has decided against
allowing the sale of full-strength draft beer in bars and
restaurants.
Currently, draft beer sold in Utah can contain no more than 3.2
percent alcohol by weight, or 4 percent by volume.
Most beer contains about 5 percent alcohol by volume and is
watered down for sale in Utah.
A bill to lift the cap was approved 58-2 in the House. But on
Thursday, the last day of the session, the Senate decided not to
debate the measure and to go home early instead.
Bars and restaurants are already allowed to serve full-strength
beer if they buy it in bottles from the state liquor store at the
same 86 percent markup paid by the general public.
