Iowa Brewer's Union
Date: February 16, 2008
Time: Noon - 3 p.m.
Place: The Herkimer
2922 Lyndale Ave SMinneapolis, MN 55408
www.theherkimer.com
The Herkimer has won two gold medals at the Great American Beer Fest over the last two years. Plus, they are always very generous to us with their Mash-Out donations. You are welcome to bring homebrew (I check with Chad, the manager). For the technical topic, Brock Ray will be discussing how to organize a beer tasting dinner. Hope to see you there!
One of the things that makes this club so much fun is are the various events, both big and small, that happen throughout the year. I could really use some volunteers for some various activities:
Presenter for a Technical Topics
§ Give a short presentation on a topic related to beer, mead, cider at the monthly meetings
§ You can choose the topic (or I can help you select a topic)
§ You don’t have to be an expert
§ Great way to study for the BJCP exam
Style of the Month
§ Send out monthly emails about the upcoming style
§ Help organize informal judging at the monthly club meetings
§ Help design logo and select prizes for the SOTM milestones
Committee for Inter-Club Camp-Out
§ Help determine the dates for this year’s Camp Out
§ Help determine this location for year’s Camp Out
§ Organize the cooking contest (select theme ingredient) and dinner
§ Determine if other activities should be offered (for example: last year since it was in New Ulm, there was a tour of Schell’s Brewery)
§ Send out emails to the various clubs reminding them about the event
§ On-site organization of cooking contest, dinner, and site fees
Please let me know if you would like to help on any of these items, or if you have any other suggestions, please send me an email: gera_latour(a)hotmail.com.

IL 60060.
BABBLE is proud to announce that the 2008 Leap Beer Brew Off will again be a
stop on the Midwest Homebrewer of the Year circuit
(http://sphbc.truthbrew.com/mwhboy/) We are also pleased to bring you our
Entrant Appreciation Drawing. The name of one participant will be selected
at random and this person will win a special gift package. Each entry

at winning!
New in 2008: There will be a separate best of show judging for Meads and
Ciders. Ribbons will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd best of show in these
categories so dust off some of those bottles and take a chance on winning
more ribbons.
Attached is a zip file that contains the Competition Rules (.pdf & Word
