Michael,
Greetings and salutations!
The Oregon Brew Crew cordially invites you to attend the 7th
Annual Fall Classic Homebrew Competition, a fully sanctioned
AHA/BJCP comp, in Portland, Oregon on Saturday, November 10th, 2007.
We are currently looking for judges to volunteer their skills in
judging their choice of the myriad categories that are open. As in
years past, every category in the 2004 BJCP Style Guidelines are
open to entrants, which means you'll probably find something you're
interested in sampling.
As usual, if you are entering something in the competition, not a
problem; you can judge the categories you have no entries in. If you
decide not to judge, we always need stewards and your good company. :)
We've created an online judge registration form located here:
http://www.1000bottlesofbeer.com/fall_classic_judging.asp
<http://www.1000bottlesofbeer.com/fall_classic_judging.asp?aha=1f6Zm730RjcE0…>
It's fairly self-explanatory. However if you have questions, feel
free to email them to obc-comp(a)oregonbrewcrew.com
<mailto:obc-comp@oregonbrewcrew.com?Subject=AHA%20Fall%20Classic>
and we'll answer them as quickly as possible.
If you are coming from out of town and would like assistance
finding suitable accommodations and local transportation options, we
will be happy to provide that information upon your request. As
well, if you have special needs let us know and we'll be happy to
assist in any way we can.
This year the competition will be held at a brand new brewpub,
opening fairly soon; Hopworks Urban Brewing, located at 2944 SE
Powell Blvd., Portland, OR 97202. Run by Christian Ettinger and Ben
Love, Hopworks will be brewing 100% certified organic beer. They'll
be drawing upon safe and renewable energy resources such as Green
Mountain Power for electricity and using waste oil and biodiesel to
power their kettle burner. The Oregon Brew Crew thanks Christian and
Ben for their gracious gift of precious pub space in which to have
our competition.
So come on out, have some beers, have some comments to say about
those beers, and have a great time! We'd love to see you.
Cheers,
Jeremie Landers

I would suggest you put the CITY NAME on your label too, so we can tell people which city's water they're drinking.

If you are heading for ABR tomorrow, please fill a cornie keg with water (tap is JUST fine!), label your keg with your name, hit it with a shot of CO2 (just enough to push the H2Owell have more gas at the event, but perhaps not immediately), and drop it off at the MHBA table tomorrow. Pick it up on your way out. It will be well guarded, as we have two volunteers to watch the table, and at least one person will be there at any given moment. Well be hydrating the ABR crowd through the clubs jockey box (graciously restored last year by Paul Dienhart and Rick Oftel!), and in so doing, spreading the word about homebrewing while helping the MN Craft Brewers Guild, who have always been very good to us! (anyone ever had a free tour and tasting at a MN brewery/brewpub? Any members ever receive a prize donated by a MN brewery/brewpub?)
Please, please, please, and THANK YOU!!
Also, feel free to stop by the booth and relieve the volunteers for a spell!
Thanks,
John

I guess that's what I get for waiting until the last minute.
Anyway, if anyone has one extra ticket for the ABR I would be greatly appreciative.
Thanks,
Will H

Sorry about the short notice.
If anyone would like to submit their homebrewed example of Bock (BJCP category 5: Maibock, Traditional Bock, Doppelbock, or Eisbock http://www.bjcp.org/styles04/Category5.html) for the AHA Club Only Competition, please bring at least one bottle to the BJCP class tomorrow by 7 pm. (You can leave it on the front porch, as long as it is labeled with your name/address.)
The chosen entry will need to be sent ASAP, since it is due by October 1st. http://www.beertown.org/homebrewing/schedule.html If you would like to leave three bottles and a check for $7 (made to AHA), if your entry wins, I will send it out for you. (The class gets to drink the non-winning extra beers.)

Hey everyone.
Are interested in going to the Autumn Brew Review this Saturday, but don't have a ticket? For just a little bit of work staffing the MHBA table with water, you can get in for free. This ticket provides you with VIP entrance. You will have plenty of time to enjoy the offerings----and will be representing the club.
Please let me know ASAP, if you are interested. We are also asking for volunteers to bring in kegs of water from various cities around the area.
Gera
P.S. If you already have a ticket, it would be great if you stop by and visit the table and help out for a few minutes.
