If anyone knows someone at a Minnesota based homebrewing club, please
ask them to let me know if they will be at Nationals in Denver.
MHBA will have a table at Club Night and it is open to have other clubs
join us.
I have heard from the SPHBC, Timberworts and Northern Ale Stars and have
tried contacting other clubs.
thanks!

According to this BeerAdvocate article (http://www.smartusa.com/movies.html) "The American Brew" will be airing on A&E at the following times: 4/7 @ 10pm EDT and 4/8 @ 2am EDT. Apparently it is a documentary of American brewing history produced by A-B's Here's To Beer campaign. In spite of the macro affiliation, it sounds like the Alstrom brothers liked it.

Those attending the MHBA meeting at noon on Saturday at John Katics' house http://www.mnbrewers.com/ will have an opportunity to take home free malt. Our friend Kelly Kuehl, a founder of MHBA, now works for Great Western Malting. He needs to get rid of 600-700 pounds of malt samples in one-pound, vacuum-sealed bags that were sent to him by mistake. This includes a variety of crystal and dark malts, as well as base malts. Varieties include Thomas Fawcett, Franco-Belges, Hugh Baird, Best Balz of Germany and Canadian pilsner.
Rick Oftel and I are picking it up, and it will be available at the meeting. Thanks to Kelly and Great Western for thinking of us.

Arborfest is just around the corner (May 4th). This event is a great
time with great beer. Another plus is that you can deduct $30 off
the ticket price on your taxes (so I hear) as a portion of the ticket
price goes to a charitable cause, The Family Tree Clinic! On the
downside they're advertising it on some local drunk college kid sites
with a heading of "All-U-Can-Drink Beer Festival" so it could turn
into a college frat boy fest real quick if we don't snatch up the
tickets first. Lots of great breweries will be there this year:
- August Schell Brewing Co.
- Barley John's Brew Pub
- Chisago Lakes Liquor
- Fitger's Brewhouse
- Finnegans
- Flat Earth Brewing Co.
- Great Waters Brewing Co.
- Bell's Brewing Inc.
- Lake Superior Brewing Co.
- Town Hall Brewery
- Rock Bottom Brewery
- Summit Brewing Co.
- Surly Brewing Co.
