Ahhh...imagining that irresistible "new car" smell?

After further review of the wort requests, it appears we have more
demand for IPA than we have brewing capacity. Being totally logical
brewers and not wanting to limit demand, it strongly appears we have the
opportunity to do a second batch of IPA and a single batch of Wheat.
Yep, that's right folks. Sounds like we may be brewing 120 gallons
total with 80 IPA and 40 Wheat.
Remember the slogan, "Bigger is Better!"
See you May 5th.

Gera, Jim V, Bob C, Brian H (3) Rob B, Jonathan C. (mostly filled)
Brian, you may need to consider reducing the size of your experiment to
smaller fermenters. If we get an outpouring of additional requests and
if there are other "Master Brewers" available, we could consider an
"afternoon brew too"
I just realized I didn't get in on the IPA but I think I have enough
beer anyhow.
See you guys next Saturday.

Guys and Gals,
You've read the corny e-mails, you know that May 5 is soon and so far,
we don't have an idea how many of you will be attending the big event.
There will be two large breweries cranking out about 40 gallons each of
IPA and Spring Wheat. So far, 25 gallons has been spoken for.
Now you and I know that I have a fairly substantial brewery but unless
you expect me to ferment something in my sink, we need some volunteer
fermenters. Volunteer fermenters arrive with yeast, sterile container,
and a smile. You leave with cool bitter wort and a larger smile. Just
imagine the smile you have when the weather cooperates!
So there you have the short summary.
You know I hate to throw away wort and you also know I can't grow enough
yeast to ferment 80 gallons. Please let me know electronically of your
plans. Just add your name to this list, add 5 to the total, and send it
back.
Spring wheat (10) Gera, Jim V
IPA (15) AL B, Rick, Jim I
Thanks in advance
Rick

BJCP Judges -
If you haven't voted yet for your BJCP Representative for the North Region,
this is the last week. We've only got 33% of the total number of eligible
judges who have voted so far, and while that is a bigger percentage than the
Mountain/Northwest and Northeast regions, we can do better!
Go to:
http://www.bjcp.org/no2007.html
If you need your BJCP ID and Password, email me and I'll look them up for
you.
Thanks!

Greeting Homebrewers. Did you know your refrigerator is running? On
May 5th, chase it over to Rick and Dawn's for the big brew event.
You remember the theme from one of my previous corny announcements
right? "Bigger is better!" No, this has nothing to do with spam, it's
all about big kettles.
This year, thanks to Jim Voosen and Jim Imbertson, our back yard will be
filled with two, (count em) TWO 40 gallon kettles, matching mashtuns,
and a bunch of hoses and pumps.
The dual systems will be boiling (think Pandemonium) when we honor Jimmy
Carter for making this adventure legal. The toast is at high noon.
After the toast and at the conclusion of the boils, we will have 80
gallons of bitter wort to share with you. Just bring a sanitized
container and your favorite yeast.
What are we brewing? After some serious quality control work last
evening, I inspected the proposed recipes in Zymurgy and looked over the
comments you sent in via the internet. One recipe suggests achieving an
unheard of 200 IBU's! Can you believe it?
After further review of the vast outpour of comments, we decided to brew
one kettle of wheat beer and one kettle of IPA. Unless anyone has a
strong objection, we will cask forward towards these two beers.
The only thing I haven't mentioned yet is other brewing stations. You
are free to bring kettles, burners, and I will gladly provide filtered
water. I am encouraging you to consider the free wort special!
So now you have it. Let's review shall we?
1. May 5th - the great refrigerator chase
2. May 5th - Brewing starts around 10
3. May 5th - Brewers are free to setup, sample, share, BBQ, chase
friendly neighbors, etc.
3. May 5th - Toast to Jimmy at 12:00\
4. May 5th - Chickens on BBQ (12:30)
5. May 5th - The rest of the things that should have been mentioned
start throughout the day. They usually start when someone begins.
See you on May 5th. Bring nice weather
