6th Anniversary Party this Thursday
This Thursday (3/16/06) will be our 6th Anniversary! We will be releasing
our Anniversary ale Thursday - an Irish Strong Ale. Come out to the Pub and
help us celebrate 6 wonderful years of Craft brewing and craft dining with
$3 pints of Anniversary Ale all day long. We will also feature happy hour
prices on our standard Pub taps all day long as a thank you for your help in
emptying our tanks and keeping us brewing these past years (sorry IPA
drinkers...we just ran out and the new batch is dry hopping - but there are
plenty of other beers on tap!). Our campfire will be roaring to accomodate
the brave winter outdoor drinkers.
Beer Release
Anniversary Ale (8% abv): Based on a Smithwick's Irish Barleywine recipe, we
have adopted the Irish Strong Ale as our Anniversary Ale ever since we
opened the day before St. Patrick's Day 6 years ago. Huge amounts of malt
mixed with a light addition of rolled oats give this beer a pleasant body
complimented by a light regiment of British hops.
Celebrate St. Patrick's Day at Barley Johns
Our St. Patrick's Day dinner will include a Corned Beef and Cabbage boil,
Corned Beef Hash, Irish Soda Bread, Periwinkles (Irish Sea Snails) and
plenty of other Irish themed accompaniments. The beer will not be wearing
"green", but the staff just might be - and you should too! Call for
Reservations: 651-636-4670 -- Note: Due to the nature of St. Patricks Day
and Leprechaun Magic (eating, drinking and friends) we will do our best to
accomodate reservation times.
Re: Sunday Night Suppers
Just a note of clarification. The Sunday Night Supper will not be every
week. This last Sunday was a Pilot run on the program and it was a great
success. There will not be a Supper without an announcement -we will send
out email notices and post the dates of any following Sunday Night Suppers.
Barley John's will not be open regularily on Sundays, only when there is a
Supper.

C 2005-2006 Barley John's Brew Pub
I talked to the manager of the Eden Prairie Old Chicago and he said
they'll be getting in Bender shortly. Old Chicago will also be having a
"Home Tour" of local beers - Summit, Surly, Schells was all we could
think of. He didn't seem too happy and said that Surly's beer is more
expensive than others - let's hope it sells and they keep it on tap!

Hello People
Cloudy Town Brewer's judgment day is closing in so its time for an update. Judging will be held at the
RAMADA LIMITED & SUITES
121 Park Ave, S
St.Cloud, Mn 56301

Judging sessions start at 9:30 am Saturday with a break for lunch, then back judging at 1pm and 3 pm and 7pm if needed. There will be many Cloudy Town Brewers in attendance also.
If anyone else you know would be interested in judging, please bring him or her along or pass the word. Everyone is welcome and the more that participate the better.
See you Saturday
Cheers,

Please let me know ASAP if you are still attending the dinner.

Subject: Upcoming Events
March is here and with it comes no sign of spring. But that's not going to
stop us from gathering at the annual spring beer weekend at Hestons Lodge,
Casino and Golf. The grand event will commence March 23rd and rage on
uncontrollably until March 26th, at which time the police will be summoned
to throw us all out.
Here's the line-up of events planned fro the weekend:
-For those showing up on the 23rd, the traditional Pub Night will signal the
beginning of the festivities. Bring a food item to Pub Night to share with
the group.
-On Friday there will be a group brew. An all-grain IPA will be the beer of
choice so plan to hang out and add your two cents on how the beer should be
made.
-Returning to beer weekend after a short absence will be Tee-Pee Mark and
his Tee-Pee (thus the name). Mark has requested a brown ale-porter-stout
tasting in the tent, so bring one of those along with your peace pipe to sit
around the fire and tell lies.
-Of course we will be having a Belgian beer tasting, so bring your best.
-The Saturday night meal theme will be Italian. However, as stated earlier,
Greg has only consented to this theme as long as there are not 40 different
versions of Spaghetti...that includes SpaghettiOs. Anything else will pass
muster and spare you the wrath of Greg
Pub Crawl
April 29th will mark the return of the Northern Ale Stars Pub Crawl. The
tentative schedule for the crawl is as follows:
-5:00 - Start at Lake Superior Brewing for beer, tour of the brewery and
pizza. Lake Superior will also be selling growlers by then and you can
purchase one or more to bring home with you.
-6:30 - Next we will drive to Fitgers Brewhouse and enjoy their beers.
-7:20 - Since we'll be in crawling distance of Sir Benedicts, we'll do just
that.
-8:15 - From there we will crawl to Carmody's, a new Irish bar in downtown
Duluth.
-9:15 - Enough crawling, at this point we'll board the DTA Trolley and head
across the bridge to Twin Ports Brewing.
-10:30 - We board the trolley and head back across the bridge to either The
Dubliner (another new Irish bar in Duluth) if it has opened by the 29th,
otherwise we'll head to Old Chicago.
-11:30 - We pour ourselves back into the trolley and head back to Fitgers.
Tickets are $25 in advance and includes the trolley ride and pizza at Lake
Superior Brewing. Please make your check out to Northern Ale Stars and send
it to Walt Pittack, 5979 Birchway Rd., Hermantown, MN 55810.
