Hi, I was looking back at the previously announced styles (shown below) and was wondering if the Cask Ale contest was still on for the campout? It wasn't mentioned in Curt's e-mail listing the styles.
Thanks,
Susan

Subject: [phc-club] Campout Styles
The camp-out styles will be open lager, open ales, open meads & open Belgian beer. They will be judged in the best of show format. The samples can come from kegs, growlers, bottles, etc. Samples will be labeled as to what type of beer/mead they are.
I would like to see an experimental open cask ale category also. All the details to come later. Hopefully, this will get more brewers involved. I have a BJCP type event planned also, stay tuned.

Subject: [phc-club] Brewers' Fest
Just got this and thought I would post it here for those who are <BR>
interested.
********************
Dear Brewers:
Hope everyone is having a good summer and that you have lots of beer and
wine made! Just a reminder that the 2004 Brewers Festival is scheduled for
Friday, August 20, at the Elks Events Center in downtown Fergus Falls. The
event begins at 7:00 p.m. and will run until 11:00 p.m.
I moved the date this year to coincide with a performance of Songs from the
Tallgrass at the Fergus Theater just down the block. The show begins at
8:00 p.m. and gets out about 10:00 p.m., so hopefully we will get some
people before and after the show. As a small incentive if people present a
Songs ticket (or stub) for that nights show, they get into the Brewers Fest
for $10 instead of $12 which is the admission this year. Let people know
this if they are looking for another activity the night of the performance.
Also, I have tried to improve the quality of the snacks this year. City
Bakery is donating various breads; Service Food is donating cheese trays;
Mabel Murphy's and Z103 Bar and Grill are both donating food; and I will
get gift certificates from Wal Mart and Target to get crackers and pretzels.
The Brewers Fest is a great event but, frankly, I need more people to
attend. Spread the word.
If you have ideas or specific decoration needs please let me know. I'm real
easy to work with!

Anyone been to the new Granite City brewpub in
Maple Grove?
We stopped by Saturday afternoon but too packed
to stay. Outside patio looked nice.
Are the beers brewed on premise or brewed in
South Dakota and shipped to various locations?
Bob still indentured to Burdick? :-)

Okay folks, now that the Mashout is over, AHA Nationals has come to an
end, and I finally returned from Las Vegas (still not a millionaire)-
it's time to nail down the Interclub Campout 2004. The dates and
specifics are contained in the attached email below sent in April.
Here is what I need. I would like people to respond to me if you are
planning to attend. Also include how many people are coming. This can
be done individually or if a representative from a club wants to tally
up the club's members who are attending, that would be fine also.
Please include names of the people attending. Please respond by July 9,
2004. Some planning is involved, so your prompt response would greatly
help the organizers of this event. Please respond to this email even if
you have already told me you were coming. I want to make a final list
and don't want to miss anyone.
Feel free to respond if you are not planning to attend. Then I know you
at least received the invitation.
If we have enough interest, an equipment swap might be a good thing for
Saturday afternoon. Let me know with your responses.
Not sure we can duplicate the fun had with last year's spontaneous game
of Fire Jenga but we can try. If anyone has a source of scraps from a
wood shop bring them along.
Get ready to share some great times with your fellow brewers. There
will be plenty of wonderful beers there also.
Don't forget the Master of Malt competition. Each participating club
has the opportunity to submit one beer in each category. The
competition will be headed by last year's winner, THE infamous Wayne
Theuer!
The camp-out styles will be:
open lager
open ales
open meads
open Belgian beer.
They will be judged in the best of show format. The samples can come
from kegs, growlers, bottles, etc. Samples will be labeled as to what
type of beer/mead they are. I assume 2 bottles for each entry will be
required.
Wayne, let us know if this information is correct.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Campers/Brewers/Interested Persons
The Inter-Club Campout will be held on July 16-18, 2004.
It will be held at the:
St. Croix State Park
Head of the Rapids Group Center
Near Hinckley, MN
It will be a little different than previous years. Check out the
website below for more details.
http://summersizzlerfriends.homestead.com/Campout2004.html
We will be sharing the site with another group who has graciously
invited us to join them.
There are bunk houses, showers, a large lodge, professional style
kitchen and more.
There will also be a charge this year for use of the facility and
cleaning supplies. The charge initially is $35 per adult. This cost
will likely go down as the number of attendees goes up. Something will
be decided about people who will only be there for one night. Likely
there won't be a charge for day visitors. There will also be the St.
Park access fee, $10per vehicle I think?
Sorry for the minimal information. More details will be sent out soon.
Maps and stuff like that. Until then you can direct any questions or
concerns to me at:
cstock(a)barr.com
Please send this to any other area club that may be interested.
Thanks

Jim,
Please join us at your local
Rock Bottom Restaurant and Brewery
on July 1 for the tapping of American Dream Ale.
In honor of American beer month,
we?re celebrating this Big Country with a special offering of local
favorite recipes paired with our own craft-brewed beer.
While you're here, make sure to try the
American Dream IPA.
We picked the finest hops from Washington?s Yakima Valley to give this
historic pale ale a decidedly American twist. Floral, citrus and pine
character burst from the Yakima hops to mix with the crisp, slightly
dry malt flavor for a never bitter ale.

July 1 - 31*

Hey All,
This Thursday, July 1, we will release the popular Broken Paddle ESB. I have had many requests not to nitro the ESB, so this batch will be served under light Co2 carbonation. We will have growlers ready to go and expect that you fine folks will drink this pretty fast. Stop in the Town Hall Brewery this Thursday and try a pint for just $1 from 5-6pm.
Cheers,
Mike
This sounds like my kind of celebration...
