Interclub Campout 2004

Campers/Brewers/Interested Persons The Inter-Club Campout will be held on July 16-18, 2004. It will be held at the: St. Croix State Park Head of the Rapids Group Center Near Hinckley, MN It will be a little different than previous years. Check out the website below for more details. http://summersizzlerfriends.homestead.com/Campout2004.html We will be sharing the site with another group who has graciously invited us to join them. There are bunk houses, showers, a large lodge, professional style kitchen and more. There will also be a charge this year for use of the facility and cleaning supplies. The charge initially is $35 per adult. This cost will likely go down as the number of attendees goes up. Something will be decided about people who will only be there for one night. Likely there won't be a charge for day visitors. There will also be the St. Park access fee, $10per vehicle I think? Sorry for the minimal information. More details will be sent out soon. Mash Out Update

>From today through May 8, we're accepting entires for the Upper Mississippi Mash-Out (UMM) home brew competition. The UMM is part of the High Plains Brewer of the Year and, for the first time this year, we're also part of the Midwest Brewer of the year. For contest details and entry forms, please visit: http://mnbrewers.com/mashout/ The online entry form is down and probably won't be back until the weekend. We'd love to have you stop by and take part in the contest. As well as the judging, we're also having a pub crawl and an awards show with door prizes at the Summit Brewery. This article suggests that the South Beach diet's concern about beer drinking was based on the faulty idea that beer contains maltose. Greetings, This is a great beer festival. 100+ breweries pouring 1 oz samples of over 400 different beers. THe Chicago Beer Society charters a couple of busses to the event, up and back on Saturday. Might be a bit late for the MhBA to put that together for this year, but if someone else is driving, over and back in a day is doable. If you want a ticket, send the check ASAP. I doubt you'd have any trouble finding takers for extras. still looking for hosts for the Mashout Beds for Judges

HELP The Upper Mississippi Mash Out is only a few weeks away . A few weeks back I sent out an email asking for people to volunteer to give a judge a place to stay during our event. Beds for Judges - a great way to meet another brewer/judge from out of town, help them save a few $ and really help out the club. Similar programs have help some of our club's judges when they have traveled to a competition. We have several judges that have already inquired about this program. We may receive more as it gets closer to the contest and we push to get more judges. So far I have had only one club member offer a room this year. (Last year I had two offers.) May club activities and newletter

Welcome to summer! At least today feels like summer (81F). The newsletter is available on line at http://mnbrewers.com/newsletters/2004_04.pdf A special thanks again to Gloria for publishing the newsletter and to Jim for getting the newsletter posted on our website. The next few weeks are packed full of activities: Saturday May 1st: AHA Big Brew Mike Moranz volunteered to host the AHA registered site for our club. Mike will be brewing an all-grain Irish Red Ale, starting around 9am. Please join him Saturday Mike Moranz 9110 Oakland Ave S Bloomington Easy to find! 494 to Portland Ave, South to 90th, 1/2 block East to Oakland, South to middle of the block. If you get lost, look for the big blue water tower in Bloomington. I'm 2 blocks East. Go to the back door. Sunday May 2nd: the 4th Annual Minnesota Hot Luck Dinner Gary Sinnen is again hosting "Food With an Attitude" 12:00 noon Floyd's Bar Victoria, MN Drive 14 miles West of Hwy 494 on Hwy 5 take (exit 11c). Floyd's is at the only stop light in Victoria. Feel free to bring your favorite spicy dish to share or try something new with a $5 donation for Sharing and Caring Hands. There will be door prizes and products to sample. Brewerama

Brewers, Saturday May 1st is Big Brew day and I'll be hosting a small brew. About 9:00am I'll fire up the burner for a 5 gallon all grain batch of Irish Red Ale. It will be in the basement so expect a tight squeeze. With luck, should be filling the fermenter no later than 3:00pm. Re: SPAM on the rise

My ISP blocks SPAM for me. So little makes it through... even from the BARN. SPAM got so bad a work that I change my email address.
