Bon dia Rondon,
Excuse me if the spelling is wrong.
I have had Pilsner Urquell in Germany on tap and the bottled version in
the US.
I recognize a difference, but I think it is due to the travel the beer goes
through.
To answer your question - Is it bitter.
I say both versions are more malty to me.
However, to anyone who is not used to the taste of hops, they might think of
it as bitter. German pilsners like bitberger are more bitter than P.U.
Does this imported refuse to import any bitter beer?
Some pale ales for example from the US are bitter.

Hi,
This post was on the Northern Brewer forum at
http://forum.northernbrewer.com/viewtopic.php?t=5093
Can anyone help this fella out? Are there any more known details at this
time?
thanks
Don
Can anybody enlighten me about this competition? Prelim and Cutoff
Dates? Drop-off locations? Rules and regulations? What are the most
competitive styles? The web page, http://www.mnbrewers.com/mashout/,
seems to be lacking at this point. Since, it would be best to make the
beer now for this competition, I would like to know as much as I can
up front.
Thanks in advance!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Association of Brewers Grows Pub Discount Program for its members
Boulder, Colo. Jan. 15, 2003-The Association of Brewers is putting a lot of
time into their latest membership benefit for its American Homebrewers
Association (AHA) members and it shows. The Pub Discount Program offers
members discounts on beer, food and/or merchandise at breweries, brewpubs and
retailers nationwide.
187 breweries, brewpubs and retailers are now on board with the Pub Discount
Program, offering AHA card-carrying members discounts ranging 10 to 25
percent. Some pubs offer Happy Hour prices anytime and other pubs offer
discounts on special beer events. Pub participants are members of the
Institute for Brewing Studies, a division of the Association of Brewers (AOB).
"Initially I was quite skeptical of the AOB's Pub Discount Program. Living
in Virginia with its archaic alcohol laws, I doubted that this program would
be beneficial to me as an AHA member. Two weeks ago, we visited Rock Bottom
Restaurants in Arlington, Va. We enjoyed an excellent meal, and the beer was
very good. The food discount was more than sufficient to make this program
more than worthwhile to me. Good job, AHA!"
--Paul M. Mahoney, AHA member
AHA members can take part in the program by visiting participating pubs,
showing their AHA membership card with a valid expiration date to their
server while ordering. Then they receive a discount on food, beer and/or
merchandise that the particular pub designated. AHA members are encouraged
to tip their servers off the check total prior to the discount.
Pub participants benefit from the program by receiving national promotion.
For example, participants are listed in Zymurgy magazine, printed materials
sent to AHA members, on www.beertown.org with a live link to their company's
website and more. Participating pubs are listed on www.beertown.org.
Nationwide brewpub chains, such as Rock Bottom Restaurants, Hops Restaurant,
Bar & Brewery and Chicago Pizza/BJ's Restaurant Bar & Brewery, are
participants. Dozens of brewpubs and bars that specialize in providing craft
beer on tap are also participants.
Participating pubs and program information is found on www.beertown.org.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
New Slogan Announced for American Beer Month
January 14, 2003 Boulder, CO The wait is finally over. The Association of
Brewers (AOB) announced the new slogan for American Beer Month today:
American Beer Month Discover the Flavors of Independence tm.
American Beer Month, celebrated the month of July, is a grassroots campaign
organized by the AOB to promote American brewing and celebrate the diversity
and variety of American beer.
A core committee of volunteers from the brewing community poured more than
hundreds of suggestions before cultivating one of their own. Core committee
members are: Sebbie Buhler, Rogue Ales, Ed Canty-Florida Brewers Guild, Tomme
Arthur-Pizza Port - Solana Beach Brewery, Paul Gatza-Association of
Brewers-Institute for Brewing Studies.
We put a lot of effort into this decision as did all those folks who
submitted suggestions. Were very excited about the slogan and the fresh
launch of a new message and energy for American Beer Months 2003 campaign,
comments Sebbie Buhler, American Beer Month committee member and Rogue Ales
Sales Strategist.
Cindy Jones, AOBs Sales and Marketing Director, breaks down the slogan:
Discover was chosen because it implies a journey or exploration; Flavors was
selected because it represents the concept of the diversity of American
brewing and reminds people that beer is a beverage with taste; Independence
ties in the month of July and that American brewers are entrepreneurs.
Although July is the month of celebration for American Beer Month, planning
and promotions are already happening. A new poster and sticker designs are in
the works to reflect the new campaign. Printed promotional materials will
first be available at the Craft Brewers Conference and BrewExpo America® in
New Orleans, May 7-10, 2003. For the second year in a row, a silent auction
will be held at the conference, benefiting American Beer Month. Donations are
now being accepted and will be listed on the www.beertown.org and
www.americanbeermonth.com in early April.
The campaigns official web site, www.americanbeermonth.com, will again offer
ways to participate, press releases for festivals and breweries, artwork that
can be downloaded and listings of nationwide American Beer Month events to
help people promote and celebrate American Beer Month.
Requests for promotional materials and getting events listed on the website
should be directed to Monica Tall (monica(a)aob.org) at the Association of
Brewers.
