Subject: Summer is here! See What's On Tap!
Hey Al!Summer is here (as we sweated through three days of 90+ degree heat here in New
England last week!) and that means our Summer Ale is flowing and grilling season is
reaching its peak in popularity across the country. From grilling a big piece of steak to
boiling a seafood dinner, we love pairing food and beer in the summertime. While our
summer staples, Samuel Adams® Boston Lager and Summer Ale, continue to be favorites for
the warmer weather, we're hearing A LOT of love for our new summer brew Samuel
Adams® Porch
Rocker.
While some of you are enjoying summer vacation, we still
have a job (albeit a fun one) to do and we never take a break from brewing. Along with
Porch Rocker, we've heard some great feedback from you on our newest small batch
brews: Norse Legend and Verloren. Thank you for sharing your thoughts via Facebook and
Twitter; we love to hear from you!
Before you read on, we'll leave you with this: If you
haven't yet, grab your favorite Sam style, pick a recipe and get outside and fire up
the grill, cause we've got a mouth watering What's on Tap for you this month!
Cheers!THE ULTIMATE SEASONAL PAIRING FOR CRAFT BEER AND
SEAFOOD LOVERS
In celebration of the start of summer, we've recruited our friend Chef David Burke to
help reinvent a summertime favorite - the lobster roll - for beer and seafood lovers

Paradise that complement the buttery, sweet lobster meat.
But don't worry; you don't have to travel to the
shore to indulge in this seasonal specialty. Robinson's Prime Reserve, the online
artisanal meat and seafood purveyor, makes recreating Chef Burke's recipe at home
simpler than ever with the Samuel Adams Summer Ale Lobster Roll Packages, available now at
Robinson's Prime Reserve.

SPOTLIGHT: BIG SHOULDERS BEER COMPANY
Samuel Adams Brewing the American Dream® is proud to welcome a new craft brewer to the
program! Rich Szydlo, founder of Big Shoulders Beer Company is an extremely passionate
brewer who is just getting his brewery off the ground in Chicago. He has many years of
homebrewing experience and after working for years in film production
and finance, Rich returned to the job he truly liked the most: bartending. While trying to
figure out how to leverage his experience in the bar business, it came to him: "Hey,
if I can make my own beer, why can't I sell my own beer?" Today, Big Shoulders
Beer Company celebrates Rich's deep love and commitment to the city where he grew up
- Chicago!
Rich plans to use the loan he has received from the Samuel
Adams Brewing the American Dream program to officially brew his first batch for
distribution. His starting lineup will include Crosstown Wheat, an unfiltered wheat brewed
with lemongrass and coriander as well as Hopapalooza IPA. To learn more about Brewing the

SUMMER ALE
Building off the summer offer we highlighted above, our friend and Chef Partner David
Burke created this Samuel Adams Summer Ale-infused Lobster Roll to help get your summer on
a roll (yes, the pun was very much intended). We thought this might be a good recipe for
our do-it-yourself folks who enjoy cooking/brewing from scratch. Enjoy!Samuel Adams Summer
Ale-infused Lobster Roll
Ingredients: 16 oz. lobster meat (cooked)¼ cup chopped celery¼ cup chopped carrots¼ cup
diced green apples4 tsp tarragon½ cup mayonnaise2 Tbsp cream cheese2 Tbsp lemon juice 8

Cooking With Sam
Perfect for those warm summer days.Since its arrival in 1996, Samuel Adams® Summer Ale has
become a staple of the summer months. An American wheat ale, this seasonal uses malted
wheat, lemon peel and Grains of Paradise, a rare pepper from Africa first used as a
brewing spice in the 13th century, to create a crisp taste, spicy flavor and medium body.
The ale fermentation imparts a background tropical fruit note reminiscent of mangos and
peaches. All of these flavors come together to create a thirst quenching, clean, and
refreshing beer perfect for those warm summer days.
Here in New England, we enjoy pairing Summer Ale with the
sweet, rich, and buttery taste of lobster. Calamari and grilled salmon can also pair
nicely with the citrus notes of this summer brew. Surprisingly, this brew can even
complement the lemon notes in the mayonnaise found in potato salad! For more Summer Ale
food pairing ideas, please visit our Course Pairings page.
Summer Ale is now available individually as well as in our
Summer Styles variety pack. Visit our Find a Sam page to find Summer Ale, and all your
favorite Sams, near you.
We brew our many styles of Samuel Adams beer for the
same reason you enjoy drinking them, simply for the love of beer.
