the Twin Cities and beyond who love hearing about good beer!

Wheat Wars
A battle of beers hosted by Michael Agnew

will be in the store hosting a beer battle between various wheat beers.
Tuesday August 19th at 6:00pm
It should be informative and fun! here's how Michael describes the event:
"Wheat! One of the oldest cultivated cereal grains. The earliest beers
from brewing's dim history were almost certainly made with wheat. In the
modern brewing world, this most basic of grains has inspired divergent
brewing traditions in different parts of the globe. For your consideration;
the opaque banana and clove of the German Hefeweizen, the delicate citrus
and spice of the Belgian Wit, and the clean, bready, more assertively hopped
American Wheat. What factors combine to produce the perfect wheat beer?
What sets these three distinct styles, all based in this ancient grain,
apart.
The lines have been drawn for an epic battle of the beers. Three wheat
styles and six wheat beers. Which will emerge victorious from the crucible
of Firkin Forum. You will be the judge. Let the Wheat Wars begin!"
If you would like to attend this event it is free, simply email me and type
the words "Wheat Wars" in the subject line. There are only 35 spots
available for this one too so be quick!

A great quote:
"Coors is brewed cold, and filtered cold. It is then loaded on to
refrigerated train cars so it can be transported to the distributors who
then store it cold until it is purchased by the retailers. Then it gets
trucked in a refrigerated truck to the liquor store.
The Cold beer is piled into floor stacks in the store and it sits for weeks
at temperatures sometimes as warm as 80 Degrees."
- Somebody who works in the industry.
Thank you for making The Four Firkins such a success!
I look forward to seeing you soon.
