Unlikely to catch on in America but who knows?
Maybe they'd go good with a Michelob Ultra?

McCoy's chips in with men's novelty crisp
Financial Times; July 03, 2002
(National News)
By Richard Tomkins, Consumer Industries Editor
A crisp company is to launch its version of "bloke heaven" in a bag next
month:
lager-flavoured crisps. McCoy's says the launch will coincide with the start
of
the new football season and will let fans enjoy the taste of lager without
suffering any of the side effects.
Crisps have come in many unusual flavours, some more outlandish than others
-
a hedgehog flavour became popular in the 1980s. Varieties that have had more
enduring appeal include sausage and tomato, Worcester sauce and pickled
onion.
McCoy's said its crinkle-cut crisps, sold mainly in pubs, were more of a
man's
brand than other makes. "They seem to go with a pint of lager, so making a
lager-flavoured version seemed a natural progression." The crisps contain
only
trace elements of alcohol, but McCoy's says they are made with real brewing
yeast and hops.
(Unlike lager? - ed.)
Financial Times staff who taste-tested the crisps yesterday gave them an
emphatic thumbs down. "Revolting," "really horrible" and "like lager that's
been
in the sun for three hours" were among the more sober comments.
"Obviously they're not going to have the same fresh taste as real lager,"
the
company acknowledged. "But they do grow on you."
(Or in you, as Tim Webb once memorably said.)

I can't comment on flavor, other than that I've had great results with both
White Labs and WYeast versions. One thing I can say about the White Labs Wit
yeast is that it seems to be a bit sensitive to temperature. In my first batch
in my new residence a month ago, I got a stuck fermentation using this yeast. I
used a large, healthy starter, almost pure oxygen, got a short lag (<12 hrs.),
but she still pooped out at about 1.03x. The temperature of the wort/beer when
I measured was about 64F. I brought the fermenters upstairs and they started
right up again. I have since noticed that the optimum temp. range is 67-74F for
White Labs WLP400 and 62-75F for WYeast 3944. If you have a cool basement like
mine, WYeast may be a better choice.

Subject: Wit Yeast
Hi,
I am going to brew a witbier in the relatively near
future and I was wondering about other choices for wit
yeast besides Wyeast. I would also like to stay away
from slant cultures if possible. How do the White Labs
wit strains compare with Wyeast?
Cheers

Hi,
We are having our next meeting at Sherlock's Home,
thanks to Damian. So if you have a homebrew to share,
or would like to get some insight into European
Brewing, feel free to arrive. I believe Damian has a
Pilsner, featured as the specialty brew.
The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, July 18th,
starting at about 7:00 pm.
A map to Sherlock's Home can be found here:

While going through the stuff I moved into my "new" apartment in July
of last year, I found a few glass carboys that I'm not using. I think
there are a couple 5 Gal carboys and one 6.5 Gal carboy. These are good
fermenters or for use as secondaries.
$5 each.
I'm not around much, so if you want them, this is the week to get them.

The AHA Club-Only competition for August is Category 1 American Lagers,
including:
A. Light/Standard/Premium,
B. Dark, and
C. Classic AmericanPilsners.
http://hbd.org/buzz/AHA%20Club%20Only%20Competitions.htm
We'll have the club run-off at the club meeting at Barley John's on July
16? Entries must be received by Saturday, August 10 by Dave Houseman in
Chester Springs, PA, and the entries take at least a week to get there, so
they'd need to be sent no later than Aug. 3.
Who's got entries??
As you are all probably aware, July is American Beer Month, a celebration
of brewing in the United States. On Tuesday Night, I'll be tapping our
next brewer's special- Sunny's Honey Wheat. As an added bonus, we're
going to have a "meet the brewer and beekeeper". That's right, I said
beekeeper. My good friend Mark (from whom I get the honey) will be in
town (assuming his plane gets back safely from Italy). So, if you have
questions about beer or bees, stop in and see us!
