Not sure if this is the right forum for this but I am an MHBA member and
also on the fundraising board at a local Nature Center. Woodlake in
Richfield. We are looking to set up some sort of beer event at a spring
golf tournament. I thought maybe it would an opportunity for one of the
small up and coming brews in the twin cities to "sponsor" and show off
flights of various brews. Does anyone have contacts or suggestions for who
we might contact at say Harriet, Flat Earth or any other etc??

Dear friends,
I wanted to let you know about a new petition I created on We the People,
a new feature on WhiteHouse.gov, and ask for your support. Will you add your
name to mine? If this petition gets 25,000 signatures by February 03, 2013,
the White House will review it and respond!
We the People allows anyone to create and sign petitions asking the Obama
Administration to take action on a range of issues. If a petition gets
enough support, the Obama Administration will issue an official response.
You can view and sign the petition here: http://wh.gov/UGmy
(alternate URL https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/release-all-beer-recipes/Hr4DlNDR)
Here's some more information about this petition:
*Release ALL the beer recipes*
Whereas the White House has published the recipes for the White House
Honey Ale and the White House Honey Porter;
Whereas the White House staff has brewed at least two other types/forms of
beer in addition to the Honey Ale and the Honey Porter;
Be it resolved that the White House should release/publish the recipes for
ALL the different types of beers the staff has brewed to-date.
Thanks,
Dipak

Any insight into why I am loosing water from my airlocks on carboys
(secondary) having beer that has been bulk conditioning for 6 months?
I need to refill them everyday.

Subject: Looking for Judges for the 2nd Annual Lucette Brewing Company's
Winter Homebrew Competition
Hello active BJCP members,
My name is Jon Christiansen and I am the Head Brewer/Organizer for this
year's Lucette Homebrew Competition, a sanctioned BJCP event.
This year's competition will be judged on Feb. 9th in Menomonie, WI at
Lucette Brewing Company. Last year we had 39 entries
and had 8 judges. The competition has been registered for a few months now,
and I hope to get more than last years entries and
hopefully get about 10-12 judges in total. Please respond to this message if
you are interested in judging. A message will be sent out
to those who DO want to help out, with more specific details about the day
of the judging.
Also, please forward this message to any of your home brewing friends that
might want to enter the competition. Currently all
of the information can be found on our Facebook page name: Lucette Brewing
Company Winter HomeBrew Competition. People may also e-mail
me directly with any questions concerning the competition.

Thank you for your time and Cheers,

Hi,
Any suggestions for a cheap heater for bucket fermentation??
Also ~ What are the consequences of brewing a batch of beer at a
temperature below the range specified for the yeast? I am brewing a batch
of White House Honey Ale using Wyeast #1332 Northwest Ale yeast. The
specified temperature range for the yeast is 65-75 F and the fermenter is
in the basement with a nearly constant temperature around 53-55 F.
I have brewed several batches of high gravity beers in the same basement at
53-55 F, including a few batches of Belgian beers. I am now realizing that
the most likely reason my Belgian have been lacking the classic aroma and
taste may be because of the lower fermentation temperature. Your thoughts
and suggestions???

Subject: KC Bier Meisters 30th Annual Competition Feb 15-16 2013
Hi,
The 30th Annual Kansas City Bier Meisters competition is coming up Feb 15-16 and we are looking for judges and stewards. Online registration is open from now to February 7 at 9:00 PM.
http://kcbiermeisters.org/comp/
We will have an excellent line up of home and commercially brewed beer on tap for volunteers. This includes a special barrel aged sour beer made by the club for this event.
This year all volunteer meals as well as the awards banquet will be provided by The Local Pig.
http://www.thelocalpig.com
Saturday afternoon will feature a Spiegelau glassware tasting seminar. Attendees get to keep the tasting set. Pricing is TBD but will be substantially less than the value of the glasses.
For the competition location, hotel info, and to register for the banquet or afternoon seminar, go here:
http://kcbiermeisters.org/kcbm-competition.html
I look forward to seeing many of you next month!
Cheers,
John
Hello MHBAers! I just wanted to let you all know that I have left Northern Brewer, which means I had to leave Brewing TV behind. But I have a new webshow called Chop & Brew and I'd love to get some of the club members involved. It will still focus on homebrewing largely much like Brewing TV (minus the craft brew episides), but I'm also hopingto include a lot of video about food, cooking, grilling, bbq, bread, soups and all things fermented food. If any of you have a particularly awesome project coming up or interests that fit in this sort of concept... please let me know if you'd like to get involved and don't mind a dude with a videocamera all up in your face. I have some NE Brew Clubbers interested in doing videos on their barrel project and group sour blending if that getsthe brainstorm juices flowing. Chop & Brew can be found at:www.chopandbrew.comwww.facebook.com/chopandbrewwww.youtube.com/chopandbr… And you can always reach me at chipaway(a)hotmail.com Cheers!
Sorry, I didn't realize the contact info was missing.
