FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Summit releases Unchained 10: Abbey Ale
Second Unchained beer from brewer Nate Siats features Belgian Candi Sugar
ST. PAUL, Minn. – (July 11, 2012) – Summit Brewing Company today announces the release of Belgian Style Abbey Ale, the tenth beer produced in its limited-time-only Unchained Series. Created by brewer Nate Siats, who also crafted the fifth Unchained beer, Imperial Pumpkin Porter, Abbey Ale will be available the week of July 23.
“For my second Unchained beer, I really wanted to create something I was unfamiliar with, using complex flavors I had never tasted in a malt before. This beer is the perfect example of what Summit’s Unchained Series is all about – being inventive and trying new styles,” said Siats. “This is also the first Unchained beer we’ve tested on our pilot brewery system<http://www.summitbrewing.com/conversations/blog/pilot-brewery>.”
A Belgian style brown ale, Abbey Ale is made with Weyermann Abbey malts and exhibits a fruity, caramel flavor with hints of pear, prune and raisin. To create this beer, Siats brought in 5,280 pounds of Belgian Candi Sugar and tested two batches on the pilot system to come up with this sweet, malty recipe.
Nate Siats will attend a series of special kick-off events for Abbey Ale, including:
· Abbey Ale Firkin – Saturday, July 21: Tiffany’s in St. Paul, 4:30pm
· Summit DJs and $2.50 pints – Monday, July 23: Grumpy’s NE, 6-9pm
· Firkin Friday – Friday, July 27: Grumpy’s in Roseville, 4-5:30pm
· Bocce with the Brewer and $3.50 pints – Friday, July 27: Village Pub in St. Anthony, 6-8pm
· Cask Ale Night – Friday, July 27: 331 Club in Minneapolis, 9-11pm
Digital images of the Unchained Series are available upon request. For more information about the brewery and Unchained kick-off events, please visit http://www.summitbrewing.com<http://www.summitbrewing.com/>.
