Good morning!
Summit Brewing Company is excited to announce the recent Silver Medal win by its Pilsener at the 2012 Great American Beer Festival® (GABF) this past weekend.
Pilsener won in the category of best Bohemian-Style Pilsener and was among 53 entries in the category.
The GABF is the world’s largest commercial beer competition. This year, 185 beer judges from 11 countries selected the 2012 GABF winners, with 4,338 beers vying for medals. Judges awarded gold, silver, and bronze medals in 84 different beer categories and 134 styles. In 2010, Summit’s flagship Extra Pale Ale won the GABF silver medal in Classic English-Style Pale Ale category.
Please let me know if you would like any additional details on the win!
Thanks,
Emily Rinde

This is a repost of the announcement for judges and stewards for the Badger
Brewoff. If you responded in September, there is no need to respond
again. We still need judges and stewards! Please help out -- it is a lot of
fun.Keith

Central Daylight Time
Subj: Badger Brewoff -- Judges and Stewards
The 3rd Annual Badger Brewoff will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2012
at the Eastside Club (same as last year.) We expect over 250 entries
this year. WE NEED JUDGES AND STEWARDS!!!!! BJCP Judges and any interested parties are needed to finish the judging
in an efficient and satisfactory manner. New judges will be seated with
more experienced judges, so don't worry if this is your first competition
post-exam. All BJCP categories will be judged, so you can enjoy old
favorites and learn of new styles as well. The call for judges and
stewards will be 8:30am and we will be finished before dinner. All
judges and stewards will receive continental breakfast before the competition,
a lovely luncheon and chances at untold riches in swag. Not to mention
the appreciation of the club and entrants. JUDGES: please send me your name, BJCP number, styles you expect
to enter (you can't judge those ;-) and styles you would like to judge (I'll
do my best to match you up.) STEWARDS: please send me your name, styles you expect to
enter (you can't steward those ;-) and styles you would like to steward (I'll
do my best to match you up.) Thank you for your support of this great new tradition from MHTG.Cheers,Keith Keith Symonds, Judge
Coordinator

How is it that this president gets credit for brewing? Like many issues, people have these ideas about him and for the life of me, I don’t get it. He is not a brewer, never has brewed, and probably won’t until he leaves the White house this January and retires in Hawaii. It’s the White house chefs that brew! Everybody should pay more attention to the facts.Maybe then he’ll have time in between Ellen, The View, and golf. Subject: [mba] Fwd: Obama brewing video I am certain Obama will be making at least one pit stop in the Cities before the election. I propose we send him an invitation to visit with us for tasting some of our brews (and we in turn will get to taste the White House brews that travel with him). Wonder if other brew clubs have extended such an invitation. Let's be the first! Or, let's not be the only one that didn't extend an invitation. Do we, as a club, need to vote on this proposal? If so, please consider this as a motion put forth by me. We need someone to second the motion and then open up discussion prior to casting our ballots.
So, do I hear a second??

Fellow homebrewers:
Beth and I are hosting a music party this Saturday, Oct 10 at our house featuring Mick Sterling and The Irresistibles. If you have not heard them yet - they are an amazing Twin Cities 9-piece Soul Review combo! two horns, a hammond organ, plus the regular complement of guitar, bass, and drums - and three lead vocalists featuring Mick Sterling! (Formerly of Mick Sterling and The Stud Brothers.)
BBQ and pot luck begins at 5:30pm - music is 6:30-9:30pm.
We will have a bonfire and jam session afterwards. Homebrew is welcome! I have the club jockey box, so bring kegs if you got em, but any kind of vessel will work!
Contact me if you're interested and I'll send you the details!
Should be a blast!

Please note: This is a private party, in our private home. This party is NOT a business nor is it a business related activity. It is simply a gathering of our friends and guests to enjoy live music, fellowship, food (a potluck) and fun. It is officially free (or else it might be considered a business), although voluntary contributions are accepted on behalf of the artists. 100% of all contributions go directly to the performers. By invitation only.
