Subject: Judges needed for Schooner Homebrew Competition
The first day of judging for the Schooner Homebrew Competition is 2 weeks
from today and we have a minimal number of judges registered. This is the
largest competition in WI and requires many judges. There are several days
possible for judging. Judges who judge for at least 2 sessions will receive
a free, non-transferable ticket for the Great Lakes Brew Festival on
September 17th.
The first weekend of judging will be Friday and Saturday, September 9th and
10th at the Union Grove Masonic Lodge. There will be 2 Friday evening
sessions and 4 Saturday sessions. Union Grove is approximately 25 miles
south of the I-94/I-894 interchange in Milwaukee, West of Racine.
There are also going to be 2 sessions Wednesday evening, September 14th at
House of Hamburg in Milwaukee.
Please register at: www.theschooner.org.

The East Side Neighborhood Services, a great charity in Northeast, is
putting on a fundraiser beer tasting in the Grain Belt Bottling House on
October 15th. All proceeds raised at the Nordeast Brew Fest will go directly
toward programs benefiting over 12,000 low-income children, youth, families,
and seniors in our community annually.

Fellow homebrewers and mead makers-
PLEASE FORWARD THIS TO ANYONE IN THE BJCP NORTH REGION THAT MIGHT BE INTERESTED!!
As the North Regional representative to the BJCP Board of Directors, I will be holding a BJCP Mead Exam on Sunday, Sept 11 at 9am (location TBD - somewhere in the Twin Cities.)
The Mead Exam is PASS/FAIL, with those passing getting a Mead endorsement on their BJCP judge record, and a separate Mead Judge pin. You NEED NOT be a BJCP Beer judge to take the Mead Judge exam!
Cost for the exam is $30 if you are currently a BJCP judge, $50 if you are not a current BJCP Judge.
We have room for 12 examinees. If there is interest, we will hold a mini mead exam prep class on Thursday, Sept 1 from 6-10pm.
If you would like to take the BJCP Mead Judge exam, please RSVP with your name, address, cell phone, email, and BJCP number (if you have one), along with your check, to:
Al Boyce
3208 Edgewood Ave S
St.Louis Park, MN 55426
Deadline: Sept 3, 2011
Also indicate if you would be interested in participating in the Mead exam prep class. (Tthat will be a separate fee for meads and materials.)
Please make checks payable to "Al Boyce", as I will be submitting ONE payment for all examinees to the BJCP via PayPal.
Thanks!

MN Homebrew Club Contacts-
The Minnesota State Fair Homebrew Competition has once again hired the PedalPub for their float in the Minnesota State Fair Parade on Saturday, August 27 at 1pm.
We're looking for TWO members from each club (or one member and their significant other) to represent YOUR homebrew club as pedalers on the PedalPub! We want you to wear your homebrew club "colors" (t-shirt or other shirt), and along with this honor also comes a ticket to the State Fair for each rider.
Sorry - no homebrew (or other alcohol) is allowed aboard the PedalPub during the parade. (If you have a homebrewed root beer or other NA soda, bring it along!)
If you are interested, send me an email with your name, club, home address and cell phone number. I will contact you if you have been selected to ride, and confirm your address so that I can send you directions and your State Fair tickets.
Thanks!
