The Upper Mississippi Mashout Banquets ticket price has been reduced to $30.00
per person. Due to an over estimation in catering costs we are able to slash
the price by 25%. The ticket includes your American theme banquet meal and a
bottomless 10th anniversary commemorative glass. The banquet will be held at
Grumpy's this year at 7:30pm with the awards ceremony to follow.
The number of banquet tickets is limited and they are selling fast so don't
hesitate to register on the website. All tickets are first come first served.

If you have already purchased a ticket you will be contacted in regards to a
refund of the price differential.

3:00pm and must be dropped off at Northern Brewer only(entries brought to
Midwest Supply after Friday will not be eligible). The data base will remain
open until 3:00PM on Monday.

If you are going to the Winter Carnival Beer Dabbler on Saturday, January 29th, I hope you will consider entering one of your home brewed beers in the contest. One entry per ticketed participant, to be dropped off at the Beer Dabbler from 3:30-5:30 pm, with no additional fee for the beer contest. Standard BJCP beer categories with medals and prizes for first place in each category. And although this does not probably apply to you, there will be a prize for the best beer by a First Time Entrant. Best of Show is a $300 gift certificate to Northern Brewer!
The judging will be on February 19th and I am definitely looking for judges of all skill levels! (We are still deciding where judging will take place---I will keep you posted.) This is an AHA/BJCP contest.
To enter your beer and/or sign up to judge: www.thebeerdabblercontest.info
If you have any questions, please send me an email.
Hope to see you at the Beer Dabbler!

P.S. Yes, I know that this is a day of judging for the Upper Mississippi Mash Out. If you have home brewing friends that aren't judging that day, please pass this email along. Thanks!

Pressure indicating sensor film can reveal pressure distribution and magnitude between any two contacting or impacting surfaces. This thin plastic sensor film-like material is placed between your contact surfaces and instantaneously and permanently captures and records the pressure distribution by changing color. Similar in concept to Litmus paper, the color change is also directly proportional to the amount of force applied and can be quantified.
Common applications include measuring surface pressure distribution in bolted joint interfaces, composite layups, heat sealers and lamination presses; it can act as a force sensing resistor, as an impact force sensor, seat pressure sensor, as a strain gauge or even as nip impression paper.
If you would like to receive a sample of pressure indicating sensor film, simply select one of categories below to indicate the pressure range most suitable to your application and include it with your reply by email. Please be sure to include your complete contact info including a full mailing address and a very brief description of your application. One sample per person only.

A heads-up for the February "Annual Meeting".
At the annual meeting, the club is required by our by-laws to have elections
of the main officers, namely President, Vice-President, Secretary and
Treasurer. Every two-years we elect 2 At-Large Board Members. The by-laws
are available on the web site from the "About Us" page
For the last few years, we have had very quick elections with few
candidates. Mostly just 1 person for each position and everyone agrees.
I'd like to see if in 2011, we can get some more interested, newer members
to step up and take leadership roles. So, please think about putting your
name in as a candidate for President, Vice President, Secretary or Treasurer
. There is no requirement to submit anything to become a candidate. MHBA
doesn't even have an active Nomination Committee as stated in the by-laws.
Nominations can be accepted at the meeting as part of the election process,
as long as the candidate agrees to assume the role if elected. We can't
just assign the position to someone.
So, please give this some thought. Maybe you'd like to be an officer or
know someone who would be a good candidate.
MHBA also very much needs to have more members be more active. For example,
take responsibility for organizing a club meeting. Provide information to
the newsletter team. Give a technical topic or discuss a specific BJCP
style at a meeting. Organize the Club-Only Competition runoffs. Organize
the Master of Malt program each month. I think we need to have MHBA get
back to teaching about brewing more than just having drinking get-togethers.
BUT, the club needs people to help with this.
Thanks!

P.S. We don't yet have a meeting time or location. Stay tuned for that!
