Dienhart, Paul - Paul_Dienhart(a)cargill.com would like to recall the message, "Door prize for MHBA meeting -- Wednesday, Sept. 15, Black Forest, 6 p.m.".
Cargill Malt and club member Jim Hoeft have donated a partially full bag of Dingemans Belgian roast wheat. I'll bring the bag to the meeting and people are free to grab some. I'll bring sandwich bags; bring bigger bags if you want more.
This is a classic malt for dunkelweizens. It also could be nice in a stout or any beer that has roast character.
It's rare to find real Dingemans in the Twin Cities. Unfortunately, the default Belgian malt tends to be from Castle, which typically uses feed-grade (non human consumption) grain. I don't think I've ever seen roast wheat under any brand locally.

Hey everyone. I just wanted to send out a reminder email that the next MBHA meeting is on Wednesday, September 15th from 6-9 pm at the Black Forest Inn.
1 East 26th Street, Minneapolis MN 55404 (They have a parking lot on Nicollet Avenue.)
We like to have an evening meeting once in a while for those who are not able to attend the usual Saturday morning meetings.
I will be giving a brief presentation on brewing with unusual ingredients. Home brewed beers, meads, and ciders are welcome, but please be discrete.
If you are at the Minnesota Renaissnace Festival this weekend, please stop by the Blue Lion Tent and say hello as we judge Byggvir's Big Beer Cup. (Sorry about the judging schedules have been made already.) We will also have demos at the Pavillion on both days at 11:30 am (mead making) and at 3:30 (pairing Fest beer & food with Michael Agnew). We will be announcing the Best of Show after the judging is completed on Sunday. If you entered the contest, you can pick up your score sheets (and hopefully prizes) at the Wednesday club meeting.

Hey everyone,
Today, Saturday, September 4th is the last day to enter your beers, meads, and ciders for Byggvir's Big Beer Cup at the MN Renaissance Festival. We have some great prizes, including handmade drinking vessels and gift certificates for Best of Show and first and second runner up. You can drop your entries off at Northern Brewer, Midwest Supplies, or Still H2O until store closing this evening. Entries are $6. Make sure you register them online at www.rennfestbeercup.com.
We are also still looking for judges. This event is registered with the AHA/BJCP, so you do get points for helping out. It will be held onsite at the Ren Fest on Saturday, September 11 and Sunday, September 12, so each day you help out, you get in for free (with plenty of time to enjoy the Fest). Please sign up at our website through Saturday 9/4 at midnight.
Huzzah!
