Collaborative Sour/Wild Beer Festival
3rd Annual WHERE THE WILD BEERS ARE - Minneapolis
Sunday October 17th 12-4pm
Stub & Herb’s, Minneapolis
<A big thanks to Jon for his continuing support!>
2nd Annual WHERE THE WILD BEERS ARE - Brooklyn
Saturday October 30th 12-4pm
Mission Dolores Bar, Brooklyn NY
The event is FREE (donations accepted and used to offset costs). You must bring sour/wild beer to share. Space is limited, registration is required and will open soon at:
<http://www.wherethewildbeersare.com/> http://www.wherethewildbeersare.com
Email us at wwba(a)truthbrew.com to be notified of event updates.

<http://picasaweb.google.com/TruthBrew/WHERETHEWILDBEERSARE2008> http://picasaweb.google.com/TruthBrew/WHERETHEWILDBEERSARE2008
We’ll, as usual, have many special offerings at both events. All left over beer from last year’s event has been cellared and will be brought back to share this year. In addition we have personally spent many dollars to obtain even more interesting beer to share.
All commercial sour/wild beers are welcome. We won’t turn away a good, traditional farmhouse ale either (Thiriez, Blaugies, Fantome, Dupont, etc..) The only verboten beer this year is Duchesse de Bourgogne, as I have about 2 cases from prior years still to share.
DO NOT WORRY ABOUT IMPRESSING. Too often people get caught up worrying about getting something obscure, while neglecting core beers. E.g. anything by Cantillon, 3 Fonteinen, Hanssens, Boon, etc... etc... are all great. We will post a list of "GOTS" on the website too as the event gets closer. Obscure is of course LOVED, but covering many different beers and styles is more important.
Please feel free to respond or pm with any and all questions.
Cheers,

Beer Lovers,
This week we celebrate Oktoberfest with 20 different Oktoberfest (or autumn beers) on draft. This is the largest and most interesting collection of beers of this style in the state. In the country??? Where else are you going to find all these great beers in one place?

Avery Kaiser '08
Hackerr-Pschorr Oktoberfest
Ahornberger Landbier Märzen
August Schell Oktoberfest
Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier Märzen
Christoffel Wijs

The festival runs now through Sunday, September 26.

Huzzah! Here are the results from Byggvir's Big Beer Cup at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival. Congratulations to all who won medals. You can pick your score sheets (and hopefully prizes) up tomorrow night (9/15/10) at the MHBA club meeting at the Black Forest Inn from 6-9 pm. Black Forest is on the corner of 26th and Nicollet Avenue in Minneapolis. I will send everything else out early next week.
I really want to thank everyone who sent in entries---we had 130 entries this year, which has been a steady increase over each of the four years we have held the contest. (And especially impressive considering that Nationals was hosted here in June and so many of you brewed and donated beer for the event and the State Fair had such a wonderful turn out again this year.) I got to sample some excellent entries!
I can't thank the staff, judges, stewards, and other volunteers nearly enough. I have received so much positive feedback from this contest. We are really fortunate to have so many fantastic volunteers for all the events that are hosted locally. I had a great staff again this year that helped get the prep work done: Wilbur Ince (Web Master), Joel Stitzel (Database Coordinator), Jeremy "Eric Bob" Lawson (Cellar Master), Seth Reid (Prize Whore), Jeff Kalchik, and Pwajdeur Swanstrom (Personal Minon). Thanks to Todd Simmons for brewing on site and to Michael Agnew, Leo Chmil, Jr., and Joel for the demos. Big thanks to Jeff Williamson, Kris England, and Al Boyce for judging Best of Show.
And also important, make sure to visit and support the vendors that sponsored the event by donating prizes. Big thanks to Minnesota Renaissance Festival, Northern Brewer, Midwest Supplies, Summit, Barley John's, Rock Bottom, Mel-o Honey, Beer Dabbler, Wyeast and B. Nektar Meadry.
