As you all may or may not know, the BJCP exam may now only seat 12 persons, and competition for those seats is getting pretty tight.
It's late notice I know, but I just found out that there are TWO SEATS available in the BJCP exam being given this Saturday morning at 9am in St.Cloud, MN.
First-time fee for the exam is $50, Full Retakes are $30, and the Partial Retake (tasting or Written only) exams are $15.
Contact me ASAP if you would like to sit for the test on Saturday.

Just a quick reminder to bring all your non-brewing friends to Barley John's Brewpub this Saturday from 10-2. We'll be brewing three extract batches to demonstrate to the newbies just how easy it is to homebrew. Thanks to Northern Brewer, Brew & Grow, and Midwest Supplies, we'll once again give away three equipment/recipe kits to three brewer-wannabees!
I have my three demo brewers, but could use someone who will bring some all-grain equipment and some bottles, caps, and a capper. The new folks get a real kick out of playing with the capper. And some people like to dream big right out of the gate and love to see the "next step" equipment before they've made batch #1.
I'm happy to serve society, but having jury duty this week is really cutting into my prize-gathering time. If someone over by Midwest would be willing to pick up the prizes over there, I would be most appreciative. Also, if someone in the north 'burbs would be willing to pick up the prizes from Brew & Grow, that would be fantastic! Please let me know so that I can let the stores know who is dropping by.
Thanks,
John

Is there a club cider buy this year, that we pick up at teach a friend to homebrew day? If so I have missed the communications somehow.
If not, can anyone post info about juice is available that would be similar to what we have bought that way, and where one might get it? (The fresh frozen unpasteurized stuff).
Thanks much.

Jim,
How much is Pine Tree charging for a Gallon?
Furthermore are many people interested in a group buy this year? Obviously
were real late to the draw but it's possible we might be able to still work
out some sort of discount with an orchard. Cheers!

Five years ago (before the club cider purchases--thank you, Mark Glewwe and Chris Smith!) I would phone Pine Tree Orchard in White Bear Lake and ask them to save me XX gallons of straight cider the next time they pressed, and they were happy to do it. They would phone me later and say, "we're pressing on Thursday, so pick up anytime after that". Although I didn't have kids at that time, I think that Pine Tree has activities for families on the weekends, making for guilt-free time spent chasing cider ingredients!
