7th annual Minnesota State Fair Homebrew Competition - August 21-22, 2009 - Join us!

*That’s right, it is time to get brewing!* As part of *The Great Minnesota Get Together* the Minnesota Homebrewers Association <http://www.mnbrewers.com/> and St. Paul Homebrewers Club<http://www.sphbc.org/>will be hosting the 7th Annual Minnesota State Fair Homebrewed Beer, Mead and Cider Competition. On-line entry registration will be open from July 22nd to August 14th. You can drop off your entries in person at either Midwest Supplies or Northern Brewer. Mail-in entries will be accepted at Midwest Supplies. Judging will take place on Friday, evening August 21st, AND Saturday, August 22nd, on the State Fair grounds at the Creative Activities Annex. Promoters say there will be plenty of beer, gadgets, auto equipment and other things that guys like, all under one roof at "The Guy Expo" set for Aug. 7-8 at St. Paul's RiverCentre. Of course there will be an Elvis component and chicken wings -- the two will come together with "The King's Wings" wing-eating contest, with contestants dressed as Elvis Presley. Another feature is a beer-a-thon to determine the "Minnesota Beer of the Year." The cost will be $12.00 per person per night, tent or trailer. We will be in the group camping area which has picnic tables , fire rings (FIRE JENGA !) and electrical hookups. The campground is next to the Willard Munger trail, so bring your bikes. Pets are allowed (yeah!). Saturday, August 1st is National Mead Day so, of course, we will be celebrating by making and drinking mead. On Saturday evening , we will be holding a Cajun crab boil with all the fixings. We're asking $10 per person for all you can eat crab, shrimp, Andouille Sausage, Jambalaya with Cajun brats, dirty rice, corn, potatoes, green salad, watermelon and desert you can eat. We need a preliminary head count for the campground operator and to plan for the Saturday dinner.
