Sorry for the short notice, but here's the deal:
GREAT TASTE OF THE MIDWEST TICKETS AVAILABLE
http://www.mhtg.org/gt2006.html
The Great Taste of the Midwest is one of the biggest beer festivals in the
country. Over 100 brewers and what must be THOUSANDS of beers. The
Madison Homebrew Tasters Guild is making them available to our club on an
ADVANCE basis - if you don't order this way, you have to send your check
into them postmarked May 1, then they have a LOTTERY to see who gets
tickets.
When: Saturday, August 11
Where: Olin-Turville Park, Madison, WI
Deadline: April 6 (I MUST have your check by then!)
Cost: $30 (payable to "Al Boyce" - they want just ONE
check for ALL the tickets)
Because of the short notice - don't bother TELLING me if you're going to
buy them - just send your check IMMEDIATELY. I am sending in the order on
Monday, April 9 regardless of how many (or few) orders I have.
I will get tickets for the first 50 people from whom I receive checks.
PLEASE - NO MORE THAN 4 TICKETS PER REQUEST.
If you have a bigger group, have someone else in the group send in a check
too.
Send to:
Al Boyce
3208 Edgewood Ave So
St. Louis Park, MN 55426
PLEASE INCLUDE your phone number, and the address to which you want the
tickets mailed.
It's usually a couple months before I actually get the tickets.

This started out as a small "joke" among a handful of us who used to
work at the Colorado Shakespeare Festival in Boulder ("Gallon O'
Guinness" is an annual event, held at a rooftop bar, at the end of the
build before people depart), but the past month since I first proposed
the idea it has been gaining momentum (via MySpace) and looks like it
could turn into an Event! I thought I would pass word along to y'all,
and invite you to send me any digital photos you might take--I'll
compile a digital scrapbook online so you can view the results...
(If you choose to reply to this message, PLEASE do NOT do a Reply All,
as there are several hundred recipients!)
Allison Koster
President, Minnesota Timberworts
Northfield, MN
*I hereby declare the date of the first (annual) Virtual Gallon O'
Guinness to be Sunday 1 April at 8:00pm CDT / 7:00 MDT / 6:00 PDT / 9:00
EDT.*
The Rules:
- It is not required you drink a gallon of the stout elixir (although I
will be the first to call you a wuss, a lightweight and a CSF electrician!),
- You MUST DRINK at least ONE PINT of ACTUAL GUINNESS (otherwise it
would be called "Virtual Stout Drinking" or something equally lame) at
the APPOINTED TIME. No penalty issued for starting early, as long as you
are enjoying a pint at the APPOINTED TIME.
- At said APPOINTED TIME, it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED you TOAST YOUR FELLOW
VGOG KIN ("Next summer in Boulder", or something appropriate).
- If at all possible, you should TAKE DIGITAL PHOTO(s) of YOU AND YOUR
GUINNESS, and POST THEM TO YOUR PROFILE HERE.
No excuses, no substitutions. You're either in or you're out. Groups
encouraged, but not necessary.
Mark your calendar NOW.
Sincerely,
Allison, your VGOG bartender
FREE PEDALPUB RIDES THIS SATURDAY - NOON-3PM!
Most of you by now know that Eric Olson and myself are bringing a PedalPub
in from the Netherlands (Fietscafe there). The idea started about a year
ago on these very email lists! (Thanks Dave Trautmann!)
The PedalPub arrives on Thursday, and we are having a launch party this
weekend,
WHEN: Saturday, March 31
TIME: Noon-3pm
WHERE: Father Hennepin Bluffs park at 6th Ave SE and Main Street
(by the Stone Arch Bridge)
FREE STUFF: FREE rides, FREE brochures, and FREE hot dogs, (while they
last....)
Alas, we can't have homebrew on it yet - we're working out that little
detail. But if you want to bring a soda or a coffee on board with you,
that's fine.
You need to be 18 to ride, and you need a valid photo ID. Also, you'll
have to agree to let you use your likeness on our website and promo
materials (lots of cameras there!) WE HOPE YOU CAN MAKE IT!
Also, if you're interested, we're offering rides for 10% off for rides in
the month of April.
Check it out at: http://www.pedalpub.com
