Subject: Bock Fest
Beer Lovers,
This year, the Saint Paul Jaycees have teamed together with The Happy Gnome
and The Muddy Pig to organize a bus trip to Bockfest at Schell's Brewery in
New Ulm.
For just $40 per person you will receive admission into the festival on
Schell's grounds, breakfast at The Happy Gnome, and motorcoach
transportation to and from the event! This is a great deal -- you don't
need to worry about driving all that distance after drinking all day, or
trying to arrange for a hotel in New Ulm. And, there will be movies shown
on the bus, along with opportunities to win prizes. Plus, you get to enjoy
the Bock beer with the opportunity to have your beer caramelized, tour the
brewery, and "hunt" for the bock on the brewery's grounds.
The event is on Saturday, February 25, 2006. Breakfast will be served at
9:30am at The Happy Gnome and the bus will leave promptly at 10:30. You may
leave vehicles in the parking lot during the day. An estimated return time
is 6:30pm.
Tickets MUST be purchased in advance, no later than FEBRUARY 17. This can
be done at either The Happy Gnome (498 Selby Street in St. Paul) or The
Muddy Pig. Seating on the bus is, of course, limited so plan on purchasing
your tickets early.

stop in and get a Hot-Poker Bock to chase away the winter chill.

Thursday, March 23rd. Seating begins at 6:30 PM with dinner starting at
7:00
P.M.. The South Shore has conducted nearly thirty of these events, but they
are really fired up for this one. This will be the first time they will
have
guest brewers. Randy Lee from Viking Brewery, Dallas, WI and Dave Hoops
from
Fitger's in Duluth will help South Shores own Bo Bélanger entertain the
troops.
South Shore always has a twist to the theme of their dinners and this time
is no exception. A Tapas Barley Wine Dinner! Tapas will be paired with
barley wines (WOW!). Tickets are $40/ each or $75/ couple. Awesome deal!!!
South Shore will also be hosting Brewmaster's Dinners the Saturday
following
the Summer solstice, and the Thursday following election Tuesday (Ill let
you figure out the dates). No word at this time on the theme or guest
brewers.
Pub Crawl:
The return of the unruly mob, otherwise known as the pub crawl, is
tentatively set for Saturday, April 29th. Rumor has it there will be more
crawling and less riding than in past years, so youd better dust off your
drinking shoes. Stay tuned for further details.
Cheers!

Subject: Beer 101
Beer Lovers,
Beer 101 happens tonight (Wednesday) at The Happy Gnome. Master brewer Joe
Weiss will giving us a guided tour of the beer world including how beer is
made and what makes one beer different from another. Joe probably knows as
much about beer as anyone and has put together a fun and informative talk
for the rest of us who want to learn more. And yes, we'll have plenty of
beer to taste and appetizers for strength.
And Valentine's Day is just six days away. The Happy Gnome will be offering
a five course tasting menu for the amazing low price of just $50 per person
including tax and tip. You can check out the full menu at The Gnome and you
won't be disappointed. Oh sure, we'll have a wine flight paired to each
coarse and, of course, beer suggestions.
See ya'll tonight.,
Mark
