Subject: [mnbrewers] Fw: Campout Booked

Hi Everyone, Well, we have finally decided on a location for the Summer
Campout - as there were as many people who did not want it at the Summer
Sizzler as did we decided to let those who wanted to attend the Sizzler
attend and go the opposite direction for the campout and go more rustic. We
have chosen the Nushka Group Campsite near Cass Lake in the Chipawa
National
Forest. This is a beautiful location. Unfortunately it does not have
showers but does have a very clean lake in place of showers, large fairly
clean vaulted toilets and picnic shelters and tons of scenery.

We have both sites of the Nushka Group Campground for 2 evenings starting
Friday
August 5th for the Summer All Club Campout. The charge will be about
$10/person for the weekend depending on the number of people in attendance.
This is a good deal for camping no matter how you look at it.

This is also National Mead Day weekend so plan on bringing your kettles and
brew up a good batch of Mead. I have made mead while camping 2 different
years and they have both turned out well. It is fairly easy to do. We
will
register the site as an official Mead site on the AHA website. It would be
great to get a ton of mead made there - if so I will do a write-up and try
to get it into Zymurgy (at least I will submit it).

For location, I have attached a document with the info on this place,
complete with directions for everyone. Tom did call the park office and
they confirmed that campers and trailers are welcome. Also, note that the
checking time is 2:00 and checkout is 1:00. We will likely call closer to
the date to see if they mind us checking in early (if we want to). If
anyone has any concerns or questions let me know.

(See attached file: Nushka Group Campground.doc)

Summer still seems so far away while looking out the window at snow but it
will soon be here so put this can't miss event on your calendars!!

Cheers,
Susan
Many of you have reminded me that I forgot to include the price for PUB CRAWL....ooops.
For the third consecutive year the price will remain at $50....Forget about that inflation nonsense, we want to drink beer!
Guys and Gals of the MHBA
Just when you never thought it could get any better well, here is an offer
you can't resist (hopefully). The Big Brew Day is on May 7th. I can't
invite the pub crawl to take a detour but you can consider stopping by and
helping with the festivities. As a long time member of the MHBA, I was
asked to assist with the daily duties.
What does this mean?
Good question winer. It means that what ever the big brew style is, it's
going to be a brewing at Garden View and the brewing will be in full swing
at noon.
What else? Well, you may also wish to also brew during the time of the
national homebrew celebration and you are more than welcome to bring
kettles, tanks, yeast, hops and all of that stuff needed to brew more beer.
I do have three outside garden hoses for cooling and if you turn them off
when done, everyone will be happy.
What in it for me?
Boy, the questions are really getting tough folks!! The Garden View BBQ
will be ready to rock and roll. I won't be able to cook and brew but the
grill will have a full tank of propane and will be equipped with tools and
things. Bring a dish to cook or a dish to share. Minnesota style.
What if I get thirsty?
There may be a few beers available for sampling. Rumor has it the club
cooler may be making an appearance. Bring samples to share just like any
festival.
What if it rains.
An old biker had a wise saying about bikes and rain. It is very similar to
these words of wit. "If it rains, you either stay outside and get wet or
you go inside. You can't drink beer in the rain."
So that's about all that's fit to print. Let me know in advance if you need
help, assistance, etc. This will be the MHBA May meeting so let's get ready
to rock and roll. I could use a little assistance.
Sincerely,
Rick OF
MHBA Member at Large
Hey All,
Hope you all had a great St. Patrick's Day! A quick glance at the tank volumes would indicate you did.
The sprouting of spring means it is again time for the annual PUB CRAWL, here are the details.
Twin Cities "I Love Beer" pub tour will take place Saturday May 7th from 11am-5:00pm. This is a fun filled day that features stops at Barley John's Brewpub,Bryant Lake Bowl,The Bulldog,Great Waters Brewery, The Muddy Pig, and Town Hall Brewery. With your ticket you get Beer samples, commemorative glass, t-shirt, and bus transportaion to all these fine pubs. Makes for a gret time!
Each year the limited number of tickets for the PUB CRAWL sell out, so don't hesitate stop in the Minneapolis Town Hall Brewery (1430 Washington Ave south) today and secure your spot.
Cheers
To make sure you don't drink on an empty stomach we will again feature brunch at the Town Hall prior to the event. From 9-11:00am our $8.95 all you can eat brunch will be just $5.95 for PUB CRAWL ticket holders
Greetings
As an incentive to draw in more out of town judges for the NHC Midwest we
offered Beds for Judges to reduce their travel expenses. We have started to
get inquiries and need to get volunteers to host judges for a few nights.
The offer was posted for Friday and Saturday nights April 29-30, 2005 but
depending how far they have to drive this may include Thursday April 28th.
If you have a spare bed or two and can host a judge, please let me know. So
far we have one inquiry asking for a bed for all 3 nights.
Please respond to cristj(a)bsci.com <mailto:cristj@bsci.com>
THANKS
Jonathan
Congratulations to Sean Hewitt for winning Best-of-Show in The March
