Fellow Homebrewers:
Gera and I (Doug) have participated in ten hours of seminars for
Community-Based Science Organizations (CBSOs) in order to acquire a grant of
$800 to be used for a project. After some discussion on the list serve, we
(not just Gera and I) decided that a permanent yet modular exhibit board was
the best way to meet the terms of the grant and to get more exposure to the
public. (The Saint Paul club is making a portable demonstration brewery
which can serve as a companion piece to this exhibit.) We have pretty much
concluded the planning phase and are entering the production phase, and
that¹s where we need some expert help.
We have three significant needs:
1) We would like to illustrate the brewing process with photos of local club
members using both basic and advanced set-ups. We would like to have
high-resolution digital pictures, but we do have the facilities to scan
prints. If you would be willing to contribute photographs to the project,
please contact Doug. If you are willing to be photographed, but don¹t have a
camera or someone else to use it, please tell us and Doug will be dispatched
to your house to photograph the brewing session.
2) We would like help writing the explanatory texts and accompanying
handouts. We are considering sections on Brewing Process, Beer Styles, Beer
Judging, Ingredients, Beer Chemistry, History of Beer, Mead and Other Flavor
Possibilities. The Beer Styles section will probably include a rotating
wheel that compares styles and gives characteristics and examples. If you
don¹t want to write a section or two, but are willing to help, please
consider volunteering to proofread one or more sections.
3) We need someone to help with design and to direct the actual construction
of the frame. We are most likely using a copper pipe frame, so we¹d
appreciate help from someone with the facilities to form and solder some
pipes.
We would like to have our volunteers lined up by 11/30 so we can get this
production going. Our goal is to have a full-size demo version ready to
display at the Mash Out, and to have the final weatherproof version done by
spring.
Please consider helping us out with a few hours of time.
Thanks.

Hey All,
With Thanksgiving quickley approaching we wanted to take a moment to thank all of you for making the Town Hall your "third place". (The place where you spend time other than home and work).
The day before Thanksgiving (Wed. 11/24) we invite you to come down and enjoy a pint or two for just $1 from 5-6pm. There will be no release, you can choose any house beer you prefer (sorry no cask). Eric is working on a special dinner choice for that evening also. Come and down and enjoy a pint of Holiday Thanks with all you friends at the Town Hall Brewery.
Some of you have asked about Thanksgiving growlers, for parties and such. I would like to offer you the chance to pre-order your holiday growlers, to make sure we have exactly what you want available. Just email me your orders and we will have them ready for pick-up on Wednesday after your Holiday Thanks Pint(s).
Special For the season- $1 off each bottle when you purchase 6 or more. Also, we now always offer "Growler Buy-Back" If you have collected more bottles than you need, simply bring in your extra bottles and we will give you $5 Town Hall Bucks for each one. Again this offer is always valid, so don't be concerned about over collecting Town Hall growlers.
Cheers....and if I don't see you, have a great holiday!
Mike

Greetings,
Just a quick update on the new beers pouring at Fitgers Brewhouse.
Once a year we head over to Bayfield, Wi, to collect first press apple runnings. The result is Apostle Apple Ale.
Apostle Apple is 6.1% alc with a clean dry finish that is greatly ramped up by the sweet, tart apple cider.
Get it while it lasts.
Brown Bear 5.2%
An English style nut brown ale. Easy to drink with a subdued malty and toasty flavor.
Alakef Espresso Stout 6.0%
We will release this beer on Friday Nov 19th.
Cask Ale
Padawan Pale.

We're about 10 weeks out from the 2005 Upper Mississipi Mash-Out. More than enough time to get a few ales in before the contest deadline. Enough time to make a lager too.
