Al was so kind to post the reminder and left a bunch of space at the top.
The only thing that empty space is good for is filling up with text and yours truly is up to the task.
Make sure you stop by Town Hall for a CASK BREWING AND FILLING UPDATE. Many brewers have produced "the big beverage" and you will have to come on down to find out the status. We will also discuss how much of a minibale we consumed!
Speaking of minibales, I still have a few pounds of leaf hops available for purchase. Extremely fresh Williamette re-packed in half pound zip-locks for $3.50. We do need to reserve some for dry-hopping.
CLUB GLASSES. Ok, you can't touch them yet but we will have two pictures to pick from - we care about and value your opinions. They should be available for purchase and distribution by our November meeting at Hops! HONEST!!!
Did we mention that Town Hall has more beers on tap tomorrow than they have at anytime in the past or foreseeable future.
See you Tomorrow.

For those of you that shop at Costco, the stores in Illinois and several other states (not Wisconsin, unfortunately), they have recently introduced a package called "Brews Around the World." I've seen a lot of packages like this that consist of leftover breakage and out of code beer, but this one was a collaborative effort between Shelton Brothers and Noble Union and actually contains a lot of good beer that can't be found anywhere else or in any other format in the US market. The product is all very fresh and was brought in specially for Costco.
The pack contains one bottle each of the following:
Germany
EKU Pils
Canada
McAuslan St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout (after a long absence from the US)
The Netherlands
Jopen Adriaan (a 15th century gruitbier brewed from a recipe in the Haarlem city archives)
England
Camerons Strongarm (was served on cask at RAF 2003 - coming soon in 6-packs and kegs)
Scorpion Lager
Scotland
Inveralmond Ossian's Ale (last year's Champion Beer of Scotland)
France
Jenlain Blonde
Belgium
Sterkens Blonde
Sterkens Dubbel
Ireland
Kinsale
I believe they're retailing for around $14.99, which is a pretty good deal considering that several of these would sell for $2 or $3 a bottle by themselves.
We're pretty happy with what we were able to put together in terms of both variety and quality, especially given the price constraints within which we had to work.
If anyone has a chance to pick one up and has any thoughts are comments, please let me know.
Best regards,
Ron

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
American Homebrewers Association Teach a Friend to Homebrew Day is Nov. 1
Boulder, Colo. ? Oct. 16, 2003-The American Homebrewers Association (AHA)
will tap off the fifth annual Teach a Friend to Homebrew Day Saturday,
Nov. 1, 2003.
The AHA?s Teach a Friend to Homebrew Day is an international effort to
introduce people to the homebrewing hobby and establish relationships with
local homebrew supply shops. Over the past four years, this event has
brought in more than 400 new homebrewers to the hobby.
"Homebrewing is both fun and easy--everyone should try it. We encourage
all homebrewers to share their love of homebrewing with their friends and
neighbors and Teach a Friend to Homebrew Day is the prefect opportunity to
do that," says Gary Glass, AHA?s project coordinator.
To celebrate this event, the AHA encourages homebrewers to teach their
non-brewing friends how to homebrew, register their brewing site on
www.beertown.org, take non-brewing friends to their local homebrew shop to
buy ingredients and have fun homebrewing. The AHA also encourages all
registered site participants to fill out the remittance form on
www.beertown.org after this event to help track the number of event
participants.
The AHA will mail free copies of Zymurgy for Beginners, the AHA?s 24-page
introductory guide to homebrewing, and AHA promotional materials to sites
registered before Oct. 22.
For more information on how to celebrate and participate, visit
www.beertown.org.
