One really neat building (on route) is the old mineral point brewery which
is located just up the street from Brewery Creek. Not that the B&B isn't
interesting - it is a great brewery but that old building is soon to be the
oldest standing building in Wisconsin that housed a brewery. Current
residents kiln pottery but were kind enough to take me on a interesting
tour of their facility. It includes deep limestone caverns, 3 natural
springs, and enough rooms to make your head spin.
Another interesting thing about Mineral point is their water. It isn't
chlorinated. Seems if there is no contamination, they don't need to add
chlorine. Try a glass. I sure would like a direct line to their well!
So let me know a little more about the bus trip. Unfortunately Dawn would
not attend - remember she doesn't like beer.

slow down and explain the details before I get too excited
(This is the season for budget and vacation planning)
Q:* I've never been to an AHA conference - what should I expect?
A: Don't know - I've never been either.
Q:* how many days total (conference is June19-21) including travel
days
A: Don't know - we'd have to figure it out
Q:* does everyone typically get their own rooms for these
conferences
(@$99 + taxes) or do they share rooms - probably some of both
A: Don't know - but I bet you're probably right - some of both.
Q:* "don't arrive empty-kegged" As a club, how much beer are we
bringing?
A: Don't know. If we take it by bus, it may all be gone by the time we
reach Chicago!
Q:* are we stopping/touring/stocking up at New Glarus on the way
down or
back?
A: Don't know. Maybe BOTH! LOL!
Q:* judging opportunities - if we go, can we / should we plan on
judging?
A: You betcha! I'm sure they'd appreciate all the judges they can get.

Typically, the conference would start on Thursday and go through
Saturday. The awards banquet is normally Saturday evening with a meal,
beer, beer, ...
During the conference the is a hospitality suite that provides
homebrewed beers during most of the waking hours and a few more. We
have been asked as a club to provide beer for a block of time in the
suite.
For the last few years the 2nd round judging has overlapped some of the
conference sessions. The BOS is normally closed so only the
stewards/judges are there.
Sounds like some sort of pub crawl or the like will be available. More
than enough opportunities to drink beer.

Since prunes are typically consumer by older folks, I would consider
calling your beverage something like:
Sour Puss Ale
Old Coot
Prune Moon
Old Lax Ale - "you never need to worry!"
