> Below is an opportunity for those considering starting their own brewpub. I had a long conversation with Dan Madsen. He has been tasked by the city to bring in such an opportunity and to provide incentives i.e. low rent and build out, to attract potential suitors. He's not looking for a national chain, but a "partner" that can grow together. Please contact Dan directly if you're interested.

> Good afternoon, Brett.
>
> My name is Dan Madsen. I am the City Administrator and Special Counsel for the City of Rockford, Minnesota. Our city is located about ten minutes west of Plymouth on Highway 55.
>
> The City recently purchased an old strip mall in an effort to redevelop and vitalize our commercial areas in Rockford. The City Council has set a list of businesses we are looking for to fill our mall, and one of them is a tap room, brewery or brew pub - or brewstillery - to fill a need in our community. As owners of the mall, we are in a good position to provide low rent and build out the space to fit the needs of a brewer willing to come to our area.
>
> At your convenience, please give me a call. I would appreciate providing you with more information on our location, goals and general overviews on the opportunity and partnership we are looking for.
>
> Thank you, and best regards.

> Hello fellow brewers,
>
> Kevin here from Boom Island Brewing Company in Minneapolis. I want to let you know of a big beer weekend we have coming up the 18,19 and 20th of July. Boom Days is what we are naming it. It will be here at Boom Island Brewing Co. Entrance is at the back of the building at 2014 Washington Ave. North, Minneapolis, MN 55411.
>
> Boom Days will be a weekend celebration of all things Belgian and complete with a new beer release (6:00pm Friday), Cuvée de Boom! Saturday will be a day of games (Rolle Bolle, Sjoelbak, and more) as well as live music. Burlesque MN will be on hand to add a little spice to the festivities as well.
>
> I especially want to let you know about our events scheduled for Sunday the 20th. Several friends of mine from Northern Brewer and Brewer’s Supply Group will be teaming up with us to make it a day of learning about this wonderful tradition of brewing. It will be a day of Belgian beer education with three sessions on different aspects of brewing in Belgium.
>
> Belgium Beer Travels -12:30pm will feature Casey Wellman of Northern Brewer. Casey spent time after college working in Belgium as a tour guide taking thirsty travelers to brewery after brewery. He will share his stories and experiences with us and provide inspiration for us all to custom craft our own Belgium Beer Tour!
>
> Belgium Brewing History – 2:00pm; I will lead you on a journey through the ages and hopefully cover some of the important events that helped shape what we now know of some of the major styles and traditions of Belgian beer.
>
> Homebrewing Belgian’s – Jeff Merriman of Northern Brewer and Cody Meyers-Miller of Brewer’s Supply Group will team up to bring an informative session on homebrewing techniques and how to go about choosing ingredients for your Belgian-style homebrews!

OK JABBERS! Just a quick reminder of some club bid-ness: Our next meeting is at my place in Waconia, July 11 starting around 6:30. The style of the month is Wheat/Rye beers so if you have one bring it! If you don't--bring something else! We might make the mash paddle open category depending on number of wheat beers. We may have a special award for mash paddle as well--Aaron Schram from Schram Vineyard & Brewery may be willing to scale up the winner (or one of the runners-up) at his place!
Also wanted to remind folks about the September Cereal challenge. The Challenge is to use some sort of cereal in your beer (dry cereal, oatmeal, anything you want) with whatever style you want! I have two going--a Reeses Peanut Butter Puff and a Banana Nut Crunch beer. Mike Lebben has created a Corn Pop Cream Ale. Get working people! If we have a good showing maybe I can write this up for one of the brewing magazines.
