to San Francisco and Seattle, has evolved into a major dining destination.
The combination of burgeoning trendy neighborhoods and a proximity to
locally grown, environmentally friendly food products and world-class

Wine Tasting with Warren Gregory of New France Wines
Explore the Roman origins of southern European wine
with a selection of Rhône and Bordeaux wines presented
by Warren Gregory, certified sommelier and wine
writer. What the Romans learned from the Greeks about
growing the vine and making wine still informs the
decisions of modern day wine makers, especially those
who hold to the traditions of organic, chemical-free
techniques.

Hi All-
I can't make it this again the week, due to work scheduling conflicts,
but has the group tried Blackbird on 50th and Bryant in SW Minneapolis?
John and I went there the other night - albeit late - and we had a great
time. The wine list is interesting and they have hearty, honest fare for
fall. My vegetarian pot pie had to most fantastic crust!!! Blackbird has
limited seating. It's a neighborhood joint with not much parking, either, so
I would suggest car pooling, if possible. Any takers?

Hi all:
in case anyone decides to come at the last minute, Bob, Nicolai, and I are
heading to the Craftsman for dinner before the movie (so we can bring
wine).
happy Sunday to everyone - hope to see y'all at the Jason K party!

Hi All:
I'm organizing a combo Eat-and-Watch-a-Movie evening this coming Sunday,
September 30th.
[I'm aware that it's a 'school night,' but figure that persons needing
additional sleep might sneak in a nap on Sunday in preparation. ;-) ]
Food: between 7:30 and 8:30 at the Riverview Wine Bar:
http://www.theriverview.net/ Menu options include antipasti, salad, pizza,
cheese plates, desserts.
Movie at 9:25: PARIS JE T'AIME (http://www.firstlookstudios.com/pjt/)
Riverview Theater
3800 42nd Street, Mpls
http://riverviewtheater.com
The movie, directed by several luminaries, won rave reviews, and is 120
minutes long.
Please let me know whether you're planning on attending (just want an idea
of Size); either via email or phone: 612.825.8526.
I'll ask the Wine bar about bringing in extras, but suspect that's not
encouraged in such a small place. still, one might wear one's largest
trench coat...
hope folks are interested!

Hello everyone,
I have never taken advantage of this network to promote anything but I simply felt I had to tell you all about this event on September 27th. Jane Ferrari is one of Australia's top winemakers and recently through her efforts has made Yalumba one of a few to recieve the "green award". She is also a former stand-up comic, so you can imagine what this brings to a wine dinner! OK, now add the superb cooking of Scott Pampuch at Corner Table. This will be a great night! It takes place at 6:30 at Corner Table. The cost is $75 all inclusive. I hope you will try to be there. It is limited to 44 people. If you are interested you mat reserve with South Lyndale Liquoirs: Mitch(a)southlyndaleliquors.com.
See you there!

HI Karin,
How are you? I wanted to send the message below to everyone but not sure if the "wine@thebarn" address functions as a broadcast email. Can you tell me if my email was successful?

A friendly reminder to all who may be interested:
Black Diamond Liquors will be holding a benefit, in-store wine tasting on
Saturday, September 29th from 4pm until 7pm. This will be a benefit for the
American Cancer Society. It will work as the last benefit we had: you may
purchase a Riedel Magnum Overture stem for $10 with all profits going toward
the charity (Strongly encouraged) or you may drink out of crummy little
plastic medicine cups. There will also be a silent auction consisting of
some large format bottles and what ever else we can scare up.
This will also be the kick-off for our fall wine sale so shop early and shop
often.
Cheers,
Nicolai Donchenko, Manager
Black Diamond Liquors
