Alexey,
The club's Grandmaster judge, Steve Piatz, did a number of great style articles for
the club newsletter. Go to "recipes" on the club's website, scroll down
and you will see a table of different styles and the newsletters in which they appeared.
Steve did an English barleywine write-up in the April 2007 newsletter. All the old
newsletters are posted on line.
Another source for formulating recipes in the Northern Brewer site. Under
"resources" you can find the recipes for all of the styles that they sell in
kits, even the professional clone kits like Surly Furious.
Other than that, my best tip is: Use a lot of yeast. A huge starter if you go with
liquid yeast, or a couple packs of Nottingham for an English or a couple packs of 05 for
an American.

Subject: [mba] barley wine brewing
Hello.
I would like to try and brew a batch of barley wine this weekend.
Does anyone have a good recipe with a good description of the process and all the
gotchas?
A pointer to good resources on barley wine brewing would be greatly appreciated as well.
Thank you.
