Just to be pedantic...
The old Wild Onion microbrewery has been closed for some years now. The
new place is called The Onion Pub and Brewery. Since there are several
burbs with Barrington in their names you'll want to look for Lake
Barrington when planning your trip to The Onion.
Other places to check out are Emmett's Tavern (West Dundee and Palatine)
and Alehouse (Downers Grove), Piece (Chicago near North/Dame/Milwaukee -
near Goose Island), Flossmoor Station (downtown Flossmoor at Metra
station - near 3 Floyds), Prarie Rock (Elgin & Schaumburg), Brass
(Barrington off I-90 @ Barrington Rd), America's Brewpub (Auroa near
Metra station), and Govnor's (Lake in the Hills).
A good, one-stop place to get to links for each pub's website is the
Illinois Craft Brewers Guild site at
www.illinoisbeer.com. Also check
out this site later in the year for info on the 2006 (aka 4th annual)
Festival of Barrel-aged Beers.

Hi,
I'm planning a little Chicagoland brewery tour and would like suggestions on
places to hit. My list is currently:
1. Goose Island - Chicago
2. Mickey Finn's - Libertyville
3. Three Floyds - Indiana
4. Wild Onion - Barrington
I remember places being mentioned on this list which were on the South and
West sides of the city, but can't recall their names.
Thanks for any input,
Jim
